Summers Winery Zinfandel Villa Andriana

Opened this old bottle tonight thinking we would be pouring it down the drain. I expected the fruit to be gone given its age and the wine to be brown. Not so! It was a beautiful zin - balanced, spicy, bold. The fruit was still strong, the color plum, and overall delightful. I wish we had another bottle.

The last bottle from the case. I was curious to see how long this 2002 zin could hang on. To my surprise, it got better and better with each bottle we opened. Still dark, almost petite syrah like. The end of the cork was black. Huge nose of fresh fruit, you can tell its a zin right away. Drinking well still with a pleasant finish.
