Neudorf, Tom's Block Pinot Noir, Nelson

Medium-bodied; spicy, slightly funky, richly fruited aromas; black cherry, thyme and quite opulent on the palate, but piquant too. Lively and insistent rather than elegant. No magic or mystery; a little heavy-handed. Just enough complexity to make for an engaging companion over an evening. Perfectly pleasant, but nothing special.

New Zealand wines tend to be crisper and less fat than its Australian neighbour and other new world wines. In the past year I find my interest in Kiwi wines rising. the Neudorf Pinot Noir is a subtle, lighter style of pinot that presents elegant fruit with sweet tannins. Moderately deep ruby colour; lovely floral, slight mushrooms, funky-S aromas, complex; fruit-sweet palate with some tannin; could easily develop more. Nice wine.

smooth and rounded, perfect now, perfumed, showing its age at the clear rim, caramel and red fruit.

As good as any new world pinot in this price bracket. Nose of apples, cherries and hint of caramel. Well balanced and finishes nicely, though might benefit from a bit of time in the deanter which I failed to do.

Moderate depth. Some interesting savoury complexity beginning to develop. Very sweet fruit and nice tannins but the palate (acid) needs a little longer to come together completely. Still, very enjoyable.

Rich, complex expressive with good minerality, earthtones, red fruit. More old world then new, just my palate profile.

Not a fan of screw tops -- but run thru aerator ( would benefit from decanter time ) good QPR

Excellent, very young but already quite complex - Brick red, medium bodied with a nose of cherry, cola, spice and vanilla, nice acidic structure, very balanced, smooth, sweet on the palate with a long finish, excellent QBR! (91 Points).
