No decant. In a good spot right now. Soft tannins well integrated with the great fruit. Good acidity as well. For my tastebuds this won’t last very much longer.

Quite a dark red, this is terrific from the very first sip. Fine tannins, deep dark black fruit, this positively skips along with energy and intensity. I found this to be in such a good spot, it was one of those few wines that had me thinking I needed more from the producer, a singular talent. Opened as a wholly unncessesary third bottle with really only two of us partaking, I am glad we did, as it shone a light …

This wine was suggested to me by an employee at a local wine store to go with lamb, and I was very pleased with it! Opened it about an hour before drinking and decanted. Was fantastic with lamb.

Popped and poured, this was immediately enjoyable and impressive, blackberry, lighter body, finesse, 13.5% alcohol, just delicious. My sole bottle, fill and cork in excellent condition, removed from a decade in professional storage. Fine match with wagyu tri tip steak.

Ripe plums that turns to smoke, slight barnyard, cured meats. Quite a dense nose. Med bodied, m+ dusty tannins that’s quite fine, plenty of savory spices, smoked wood, earth. Aromas just sits on your palate like a cloud, so soft and elegant. Decent finish, and obviously a long life ahead but already drinking well. So floral and pure fruited after 6h in the bottle, fruit even got fresher - strawberries. Silky smooth palate and freshened up by the high, lasting …

Focused and structured, showing classic 2010 tension. The nose leans into dark berry, graphite, and crushed herbs, with a whisper of smoked meat underneath. On the palate, it's taut and linear, with well-extracted fruit, firm acidity, and tightly-wound tannins that promise further development. A leaner, more sinewy expression of Cornas, but with depth and clarity. Still on the upswing.

Spicy! Also smokey and rich. Kinda off the charts, I gotta say. What it had in character and chutzpah, it lacked in finesse and balance. But that’s probably cuz I drank it too early. Viva Cornas!

So lovely. For me, this is one of those bottles that is so unexpectedly lovely, with a clearly distinctive palate & a combination of freshness and maturity, that I will likely continue to buy this in years to come. A little more complexity wouldn't hurt, but I have no complaints at this price point.

Nice aromatics showing black currant, sweet flowers, tobacco, and some iron or metallic notes. Palate is very lively, with fresh red fruits up front like cherry, cranberry, raspberry, and notes of pomegranate. Finish is fairly long with abundant red fruit, black pepper spice, some faint game notes, all backed by vibrant acidity. A little tannin pokes out at the end, but just lends some structure and helped with food (prime NY strip in this case). This bottle was just entering …

Rich wine, does not feel 13 years old at all. Generous, complex but accessible, great fruit concentration. From 40-year-old vines, destemmed and long maceration in steel tanks. Aged in used French oak barrels for 18 months. Medium+ intense aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry, red plum, wet leaves, graphite, milk chocolate, cold coffee, roast beef, liquorice wood, green olive, bay leaf, leather, green pepper. Medium acidity, long finish. 13% - €45 @ Hexagone (served @ North Rhône tasting Zoldering)

Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of garrigue, earthy/dusty & floral notes, pepper, herbs, spices, minerals & a slight hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Rhone revelry (Cru and Domaine, Portland OR) : The nose is robust and brawny with tones of black cherries, licorice, black cherries, raspberries, spice notes, currants, and some violets. There is a slight bit of clunkiness and a slightly lack of depth as well. The Full bodied feel shows off the robust qualities of the nose as well as the slightly clunky side along with tart, medium+ acidity and chewy, medium+ tannins. The structure is a bit brutish and rough …

Clear medium ruby color. Strawberries, rhubarb, and cocoa dust on the gorgeous nose. Fantastically integrated wine with notes of juicy ripe strawberries dominating and buttressed with raspberries; both of them last forever in the finish at which point a slight vegetal note can be detected. It has a soft texture that falls just short of flabby and matches well with the very present acids. I don’t think it’s going to improve much from here and would recommend drinking within 3-5 …

Exploring Northern Rhone Syrah (Paris) : half-bodied wine, a little floral on the nose but also marks of élevage with wood and vanilla. On the palate, also half-bodied, the wine lacks aromatic complexity, length or concentration. The tannins stick and dry out at the end. Disappointing

Double decanted 6 hours in advance. Bright ruby. Licorice and black olive aromas. Medium weight. Crisp black fruit, herbal nuances, fine acidity and minerality, very refined tannic structure. Restrained, clean, and more correct than exciting at this point. Definite upside though.

Perfectly fine, unassuming wine. Polished red and black fruit with medium/full body but none of the rusticity or interesting secondary notes I’m looking for in northern Rhone wines. Maybe that will come with more time, but unclear. For those who like a more modern style/new world Reds.

Really fantastic, prototypical Northern Rhone, not SUPER standout for the price but had everything I wanted. That special nose with dark, deep blue/purple fruit combined with high-toned umami, sort of peppery cured meat and a touch of olive brine combined with blackberry pie and accents of baking spices/black licorice. Dinner with high-school friends at Imperial Paragon : Abjectly failed to place this as a northern Rhone. Very international in style with not much rusticity, texture was opulent but felt slightly artificially smoothened out. Some unintegrated oak on the nose, palate had ripe purple fruit with plum notes. Enjoyed it but doesn’t scream typical northern Rhone. Approachable now.
