Vinicola Soto (Don Jose Maria), Fino Very Old Sherry

Sherry-Tasting in May 2014, Wine 1 (non-blind). The sherry was pale golden in colour and smelled like the inside of an old, stinky leather shoe, mixed with almond, smoke and mouldy notes. It showed apple, walnut, bitter almond and some smoke on the palate, paired with medium-level acidity, average length of the bitter finish and an unpleasant aftertaste. The medium-bodied sherry was reasonably balanced, with limited complexity, tasted dull and was not pleasant to drink.
