it's probably past its prime drinking age. Very dark violet color. Nose is dark berry and spice taste when first opened was dirty, chocolate, thick herbs. After awhile it was smooth, chocolate, black berry, herbs (grassy). Finish is very herbaceous, chocolate, berry

color: mid-to-dark purple; nose: plum; taste: full mouth feel, velvety bright plum taste, medium-length finish of cocoa and pepper; overall: good-tasting if somewhat languid fireplace wine that should be drunk now, worth buying more given its excellent QPR ($10)

Typical syrah/Shiraz fruit bomb. No real structure. Just booze and fruit.

Heavy, dark flavor. Too much tobacco and coffee.

Pop and pour. First sip was nasty and metallic tasting. Let the wine sit for an hour and tried it again. The breathing time greatly improved this wine. This wine is a blend of 60% Carmenere and 40% Syrah, and I think the Syrah gets the best of it. Rather spicy, fragrant nose. Medium color. Seems rather acidic. Supposedly aged six months in new French oak, but there's very little oak in the taste profile. Tannins are still prominent. This …

Really good wine; got as a gift so I don't know price point; classic carmelization flavors from Chile; paired well with a bacon burger and roasted asparagus

Did not like this as much as last months bottle. Much more tobacco and leather on the nose with hints of green pepper. The fruit is overshadowed by the tobacco and leather flavors. Still decent just not as rounded as before.

Gorgeous purple/deep crimson color. The nose offers red raspberry, black pepper/spice, and some bell pepper which I like. Has a wonderful mouthfeel( I am big on this), and hits my palate with red fruit and a hint of leather. Good firm tannins balanced well with decent acidity. I paid $9.99 locally for this wine and worth 2 or 3 times that. Definate buy.

This is a solid red. Some earthtones with red raspberries, some white and black pepper and strong tannins. Great with some food or cheese. Nice complexity for $12. This is better than it was a year ago. Glad i have a few more bottles left to sit on and see how they do.

Initial green pepper followed by tobacco, leather and oak flavors. Decanted for just over an hour prior to pouring. Good tannins on the backside; nice wine for the price.

Great value and taste. Very typical carmenere, which doesnt appeal to all. Big, old world flavors such as tobacco, leather, minerals, peppers.

Just popped and poured this about 20 minutes ago. Right away I notice a well-balanced mouth feel (i.e., not to soft or thin), dark fruit and licorice, with tertiary notes of black tea. I already know that this is a good QPR @ $14. Had this with a BBQ-ed ribeye with terragon butter to pair with the and the anise flavors of the wine. The flavors in the pairing wasn't great, but the wine did hold its own with the …

I enjoyed the Santa Rita Reserve CS, but can't say the same for the Carménère; it's dominated by green pepper; just can't get into this grape.

Rich ripe, dark fruits with mild spice notes, vanilla and toasted oak. Elegant tannins with a bit of heat but overall an outstanding QPR and very fine wine. foodandwineblog.com
