I had coravined this a few days earlier and though it was just ok. The micro-ox clearly made a difference because I pnp’d this a week later for some friends and it was unbelievable. Hershey’s syrup over rasberries. Beautiful ripe fruit and cassis Mocha, coffee, lychee fruit. Just wow.

Big and rich wine with black cherry and dark plum fruit up front. Notes of black licorice, dark chocolate, toasty oak, with subtle bacon fat (believe it or not). Drinks much older than would appear at almost 10 years of age. Nice long finish with smooth tannins.

One hour decant. Nearly opaque magenta color. Sugar plum, strawberry and walnut on the woodsy nose. Very smooth, very dry palate, with nice, lingering acidity. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the long finish. Only sign of age was the strong walnut on the nose, which was quite nice.

Four hour decant. Deep dark ruby magenta color. Blueberry scone, milk chocolate, nutmeg, anise, graphite and subtle cedar on the nose. Smooth, velvety, tongue drying palate, with sultry, lingering acidity. Firm, yet well-integrated tannins on the long finish. This still has some young notes, so there’s room for improvement. Two hour decant. Inky bluish ruby color. Plum syrup and roasted almonds, with subtle vanilla, raisin and truffle oil on the rich nose. Smooth, viscous, mouth filling palate. Full, round tannins on the long finish. This drinks much older than it is (in a good way).

Dark maroon, but not yet black juice in the glass. A nose of black fruit, black licorice, smoke, oak and bacon. While not overly viscous and extracted as some over the top Napa cabs, this is restrained on the palate with smooth tannins and round mouthfeel. Young now, but will improve greatly over time.
