From magnum. Layered, complex nose. Dark berries, liquorice, spices, tobacco. On the palate powerful and intense, really well integrated alcohol, long, slightly bitter finish. 92-94

Complex, multi-layered nose. Robust, explosive body and awesome oak and fruit integration.

Decanted. A very serious wine, almost pitch black (the restaurant was dark, though). Brooding, savage, animal nose: tar, licorice, medicinal spices, leather, turned black earth, damsons, smoke, and iron. Massive on the palate - 16+ per cent alcohol - with firm, tenacious tannins, and enormous acidity. A truly outstanding, paradigmatic steak wine. The palate unfolds with masses of earth-layered dark fruit: bitterness balances the impressive materia: stewed damsons, tamarind, smoked meat, iron, graphite, caramelised cherries. Cardboard nose, like in a box factory. Fun palate. Chalk. Acid. Heather. Quite nice actually.

No formal notes - during lunch. Glass-stainingly dark. Sweet dark fruit on the nose, a little jammy, very concentrated and rich. Notes of spices, smoke, liquorice. On the palate very generous and ripe, very silky and soft tannic structure. The alcohol is impressively well integrated. Wonderful length. Approachable, but too young really. Excellent. 93-94+
