Mugnier of the utmost clarity and transparency. Ripe red fruits, cherry spice, lightly meaty, citrus, extra smoky, rose petal, primrose. Insanely elegant and fine on the palate with dimensionally augmented spice profile, so quintessentially Musigny. 96+

2nd time, 4 yrs later ; a calmer , more integrated showing. N - earthy, seductive, black cherry. M - lively, tea, orange rind; an infusion, with good fruit density. Delicious.

A one-off wine celebrating Freddie’s 32nd harvest. A blend of Musigny and Chambolle-Musigny 1er 'Les Plantes'.: A little more advanced than the ’16 Fuées but certainly deeper and more complex. Has all sorts of delightful florals going on. There’s some smoked meats and black earth. The fruit flavour is of the black cherry persuasion and there’s cool stoniness. It finishes strongly and fans out like great Grand Cru Burgundy. A treat to try.

2016 Mugnier did not produce his regular Chambolle village. Normally, his Chambolle village is a blend of village wine (La Combe d’Orveau) and a plot of Premier Cru (Les Plantes). In 2016, the village part was completely wiped away. Mugnier blended the Les Planted juice with the young Musigny juice and created a special cuvée to reflect that it is really different from his regular Chambolle village… It was named Trente Deux because it is Frederic Mugnier’s 32nd vintage. Incredibly …

Rare to find this once in a lifetime wine. CM 1er Plantes with Musigny blended in. Medium dark red. Classic Mugnier nose of ripe sweet red cherry. Palate of sweet red fruit, clean and pure. Medium length and some complexity. Impeccable balance and and so delicious. Typical Mugnier from a riper year. Compared to the Bonne Mares 2015 it lacks some stuffing and complexity but has all the Mugnier characteristics. So good.

Serious find off the winelist in Stockholm. N - dark fruited nose, figs even. I daresay it smells a bit like a Zin. M -smooth attack which then bursts into a cornucopia of flavors including dark cherry, blackberry, and strawberry. There is a terrific vinosity to the fruit which is long and powerful yet very pure. Plenty of structure here which makes me confident it will keep well. Here is a burgundy where by no means is fruit lacking. Rich …

Lucky enough to try this unicorn. Was told there is presence of some musigny fruit, either way it was a real pleasure. Raspberry and strawberry nose that wasn't too feminine and a such a strong mid palate. Finish for ages. As the night went on, the wine got better, revealing a slightly more delicate side upon entry and ever so slightly more refined on the mid. Will remember this one for a while

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind Rhone Varietals (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL) : Popped-and-poured for the tasting group. Final 1/3 of the bottle taken home, revisited 8 hours late. Both bright and sweet red fruit with intense concentration for its "Villages" level, supplemented nicely by anise and allspice. Very good weight already for its level, with even better length. I do not intend to open my remaining 6-pack for at least five more years. My understanding is that this …
