XMas Caroling Party - Magnum - Really thrilled to find these in magnum format. I love this vineyard. Such an interesting and unique expression of the cabernet savignon grape. Had a somewhat BDX-like nose minus the barnyard. Chocolate, blackberry, leather, coffee on the palate. Not a weighty wine, more elegant style than a traditional cab.

Drank this with grilled entrecôte. Excellent pairing. The wine was in good condition and would have had a few more years left in it. Typical cab sauv aromas with surprisingly good acidity. Not at all jammy... Nice.

Superbly elegant nose, cool menthol, blackcurrant, sweet fruit and vanilla. Juicy in the mouth and sweet, fine tannins. Very fruity, maybe heading towards jammy? Some oakiness to the texture with a strong mid-palate and moderate length and a touch of tar on the finish, very good 90-91pts.

Ex-Icono, Tema libre, blind. (91/100)

Decanted for 90 minutes. The soft tannins were ideal when paired with rib-eyes on the BBQ. Not great on it's own however. Heavy vanilla which overwhelmed the spicy fruit on the back end, spoiled the experience. Hopefully the '03 I have will have better fruit/oak integration.

Rather dark. Sweet black-currant in the nose with some earthiness. Medium-full body, leather flavours on the palate. Somewhat disbalanced and not particularly interesting.

From the Torres' Chilean estate this Cabernet is made from 100 year old vines. Rich purple in colour the nose show jammy black fruit, tobacco and spice. The palate is deep and dark with hints of leather, smoke and tar. Lots of tannin. Tasted in the Grand Tasting at the 10th Decanter Fine Wine Encounter, Landmark Hotel, London.
