Mouton Rothschild by the Dozen (Bourbon Steak, Aventura, Florida) : When you do a Mouton vertical, if you want to be complete, you must find a legitimate bottle of the near mythical 1945. I sourced this bottle from Heritage auctions who informed me it had been purchased over 30 years ago by a collector who had purchased it on site from a wine shop in St. milion with good storage. The label and capsule certainly looked correct. The black cork …

PnP from mag. Nose is filled with a heavy florals, eucalyptus note, with some dark fruit qualities as well. Im impressed by the color - a slightly bricking edge with a dark ruby core. Pure silk on the palate, med body, med acid, med+ tannin. This is fucking unreal. Showing much younger - would have guessed 1980s? Wow. What a treat.

Same bottle as Dave, and he did a great job describing it. I found the nose enjoyable, with a menthol, eucalyptus accent. The wine was much more youthful than I would expect from an 80 year old wine. Cherry and plum with autumnal tones. Such a cool experience to be able and sit with a glass of this wine.

What an opportunity to have a big pour of this wine. Dreams are made... My good friend offered this up after standing it upright for 2 weeks, uncorking the bottle the morning of, and decanting for 4 hours prior to dinner. Bottle 6,017. The fill was at the top shoulder/low neck. The cork surgically removed via Durand, decanted off at least 2oz of sediment. If I was present I may have found some way to consume that. ;-) Served moments …

18x Mature Bordeaux Legends (+2x Napa) : Four magnums of Mouton, with all eyes naturally on the 1945 (99pts). Thankfully, it was a great bottle, delivering on every front: expression, depth, and both intellectual and hedonistic pleasure. The other three leaned more toward classic Pauillac than distinctively Mouton, and each had its small flaws. The 1953 (94pts) gained depth with time but remained a bit wild. The 1947 (93pts) was elegant but lacked complexity, and the 1961 (92pts) showed promising …

Well this is the wine you try once in the lifetime. History in the glass. from RC bottle, wonderful palate, especially after vinegary smell, you don't expect it to be that powerful and long lasting. Still some dark fruits, graphite, forrest floor. Privilege to drink.

2025 Richter All-Magnum Extravaganza (Zunfthaus zur Waag Zrich) : My very first - and probably only - time drinking this giant of a wine. Of course I was anxious if this would perform. And lucky me this magnum did! After-Eight, mint, eucalyptus, blue fruit, this is a Martha's lookalike. Incredibly intense and captivating nose. Incredibly young and dense with a texture to die for. I was stunned. Now, some people around me argued that the nose might be a bit …

MINT!! Licorice, eucalyptus, caramel, bubblegum, evolves into a slight bloody, metallic taste, like a cote rotie. A very interesting experience and a legendary moment.

I was at a private party at a "trump" event and behold the bottle lay opened for two hours and complete full. The table was empty, ill be dammed if I will let a 45 rot! With the room empty, I grabbed the bottle and a cocoa maiden and well....here it goes. It indeed has dimensions. But behold, fellow connoisseurs of exquisite taste! Prepare to embark on a sensory journey that transcends time and space, for I present to you …

Tasted blind in the a line-up of 5 great vintages of Mouton, this wine had a red center and tawny rims. The medium+ intensity nose displayed tan spices, cherries, mint, plums, and some volatile acidity. In the mouth, this wine was so rich, it was almost 3 dimensional. It had light tannin, firm acidity, and great length. It was dramatic and complex. I was told this was a HTMS bottle. It was certainly delicious and the real thing. However, this …

Minty, glossy, but a little brown. A good, but not great bottle.

Three Old Bordeaux and Some Starters (Bellecour. Wayzata, MN) : At opening, there was just a touch of an odd note on the palate. We decanted the bottle and poured a small glass each, and the odd note blew off quickly. Classic Mouton to begin with cedar and earth. Then after roughly two hours, there were strong notes of mint and eucalyptus. And the wine, which started strong, simply got better and better over the three hour dinner. A beautiful …

This was a guaranteed authentic bottle from natural cellar with a HTMS fill. The high intensity nose was a bit roasted and funky at first. Over the course of 4+ hours, it got stronger and more balanced. Finally, it showed cherries jubilee, anise, mint, tan spices, and roasted meat. In the mouth, this wine was wildly rich with integrated tannin, firm acidity and monstrous length. While exotic it was, well, perfect. This bottle was certainly at its peak. Even with …

World's Greatest, Hong Kong - Night III (8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana, Macau) : Spectacular. The second time I have had this and the second time it has been absolutely terrific. The nose has so much ripe red and blue fruit up front along with the graphite and lead pencil. Red cedar and cigar. Mint chocolate. Very showy and expressive bouquet. The youth is baffling. On the palate both sweet and savory with rich red and blue fruit. Just …

Tasted blind, this wine had a deep red/purple center with orange rims. The high intensity nose of black cherries, camphor, plum, and brown spices was fantastic, even with its hint of over-ripeness. In the mouth, this wine was rich and ripe with amazing balance, light tannin, firm acidity, and great length. There was no hint of over-ripeness here! As this wine aired, it seemed to get fresher and fresher, so give this one plenty (5+ hours) of decanter time. Always …

World's Greatest - Night III (Per Se) : Whereas the '45 Latour simply wasn't there, and the '45 Haut-Brion was on the weaker side, there was absolutely no question that the '45 Mouton was in perfect condition and was firing hard on all cylinders. Bright red and blueberry fruit, new leather, rich dark soil, damp red cedar wood, blood. This nose is approaching the transcendent. Impressively large and intricate perfume. Fresh black cherry. Ferns and forest floor. On the palate …

Young nose required some time before it settled down and opened up. A young and voluptuous wine. Great complexity of black fruit, clove, cardamom, and cinnamon, varied soil tones. And wonderful contrast from fresh mint and cedar sap.

From a otherwise excellent looking bottle with a mid shoulder fill, this wine had a deep red center with orange rims. The high intensity nose was telltale with its huge cherries jubilee, Provenal herbs, tan spices, plums, and soil. In the mouth, this wine was spectacular with a huge mouthfeel, rounded tannin, solid acidity, and wildly great length. It had fantastically detailed flavors and incredible balance. I compared this side by side with the '45 Latour. This wine was clearly …

Tasted blind, this wine had a deep red center with red/tawny rims. The high intensity nose displayed late harvest cherries, mint, coffee, blackberries, soil, and Provencal herbs. Despite a touch of TCA, it was easy to tell this was a 100 point nose. In the mouth, this wine seemed refined but the flavors just seemed to hang in your mouth forever. In fact, they seemed to gain intensity for a while rather than slowly fading away! The wine had an …

Unfortunately not a perfect bottle of this wine although it was very close and I could make out the eucalyptus and pine notes along with delicious flavors of black fruits and Asian spices. It has a very silky texture and tastes very fine but also exotic. Lots of depth and intensity and the finish is very complex with notes of coffee, mint and raisins.

A very good bottle but did not produce the double exclamation point that this wine can at times. Mint, vanilla, dry green moss, dry pine needles on the nose. A port-like backnose with airtime. Sweet dried cherries, dry soil, raspberry on the palate. Somewhat dry tannins, with cinnamon notes on the backpalate with time. Missing the full spectrum of the spice notes this wine can exhibit. Bottle opened 45 minutes prior to serving and spot decanted immediately prior. Largely consumed …
