Vitavin Egri Bikavér

Old, corked, cooked, some combination of those.

After reading previous reviews of this wine, I was to put it mildly hesitant...this wine is not enjoying a good reputation on this board, and others as well. But this was a rather pleasant $6 surprise. Some spice and cherry jolly rancher on the nose, which continues on the palate. A little thin, definitely rustic, and not much of a finish. But no flaws, no oxidation, etc. Very simple peasant food wine. To be fair, I've had far worse that …
