Wow, what a great wine. PnP through aerator, dark color and incredible nose. Deep black fruits, graphite, well integrated and a very long finish. Fantastic!

DELICIOSO!!! If you have any, try one soon... drinking perfectly now. So well balanced, great mouthfeel, spectacular color, and what an amazing flavor profile. Open one, and find out for yourself.

Friday Group Brown Bag Tasting (R&R's) : Blind. A good bit of bricking hints at an older wine. A bouillon cube aroma dominates the red fruit undertones. Flavors of dried herbs and ripe, plummy fruit on the palate. The bouillon note is a bit distracting. This bottle has not held up as well as we had hoped it might. This had been double decanted two hours before the flight was poured and there was no hint that this would have …

With Jeroen and Isobel, brought this to DeLorenzo's Tomato Pies (a NJ classic). Last bottle from a batch purchsed from Garagiste circe 2009. Decanted and rebottled about 3 hours before drinking. Notes from 2020: "Nose showing dark cherry, savory, vanilla oak, cedar. Aromas jumped out during the decant. Palate of dark fruits, blackberry, currant, baking spice. Perfumed secondary notes. Medium weight, smooth texture." This showing had more pronounced blue and dark fruits, blueberry/blackberry and currants. Rich texture and good persistence …

Had high hopes for this one as I have had some great older Feathers of late, ‘05 & ‘07. But alas this 2004 is past it’s prime and on its way downhill. Both aroma and taste are highly subdued from ones I have had in the past.

Wow...just WOW!! I have had a lot of the Long Shadows wines, and they tend to be in my wheelhouse for qualitity, I like them and the style in which they are made. But THIS wine tonight was off the charts. BIG Cab, but not bombastic big, amazing intensity and "energy" without overstepping. Fruit, floral, oak, earth, it was all there. Finish for days, and I'd say another 3-5 years at this level. But why wait! Randy Dunn I salute …

Similar notes to last time. Easy to drink, well balanced wine. Very expressive of the region. Medium bodied. Lacks a bit in the complexity department, but other than that, a very well made wine.

1/22/22 Pored through Vinturi. Bottle stored on side and I see sediment, good. Good cork, not soft, hard as a rock, no infiltration. Wine really fragrant right after opening. Deeply maroon colored, cork end the same. Initially tasted diluted and watery but it's not. Very fruit forward and tannins are present but not fierce, just right. Slight bricking at rim of glass. This is a very nice cabernet. I swish this and I can taste tannins, but not bitter or …

Decanted and showing moderate fine sediment. Aromas show notes of cassis, blueberry, sweet dark cherry and plum that show nuances of cocoa, herbs, cedar, pepper spice, earth and hints of bell pepper. The palate is full-bodied and dry with firm, grippy, dusty tannins. Acidity is structured. Flavors show darker fruits with plum, cassis, fig and dried blueberry that come with earth, cocoa, herbs, spice with hints of floral pastilles and wood. The dry finish lingers above-moderately.

Opened last night for dinner with friends at the Biltmore. This bottle followed a 22 year old Bordeaux and the differences and similarities were striking! Color is dark red and the nose was inviting with light leather, flowers and baking spice. The mouth was filled with what seemed to be a youthful but complex Cabernet. I find most of the tasting notes below to be very accurate so I won't recapitulate. This wine is in a perfect spot and I …

Napa Howell Mountain legend Randy Dunn makes this Columbia Valley Cabernet for the Long Shadows Project. This ‘12 was absolutely gorgeous. Fully integrated with nuance, balance, and perfect weight. Definitely a Washington Cabernet with some basalt notes, silky tannins, and just the right acid/oak balance. Drinking perfectly with just a short decant.

The last of my four, and drinking beautifully. Reminds me of a high quality Pessac-Leognan. Plum on the nose, and lots of cassis and trailing blackberry in the mouth with real minerality and a touch of herb on the finish. Purchased on release and stored in the cellar since. This has much time left.

In my cellar from release, well stored bottles. Decanted for about 90 minutes, drank over 2 hours. Paired with some savory pulled pork. Deep purple/garnet color, mild separation. Nose showing dark cherry, savory, vanilla oak. Aromas jumped out during the decant. Palate of dark fruits, blackberry, currant, baking spice. Perfumed secondary notes. Medium weight, smooth texture. This might be in a perfect spot right now, although I have no comparison. I had let these bottles cellar for a while given …

This wine has been in my EuroCave for nearly 9 years and was fresh and vibrant when I opened it and poured it to accompany a nice steak. I noticed that Wine Spectator said drink by 2013. They couldn't have been more wrong. This wine will last for another 5 years easily, stored properly, but is 'singing right on pitch' right now! Outstanding!

Nose on this is incredible, textbook cab. Overall flavor is great too, however slightly disappointed in the lack of body and surprisingly short finish. There’s quite a bit “missing” mid-palate. Still quite enjoyable, if incomplete. Consumed over 2 hours with no real change. Drink now before the fruit disappears.

Decanted for 2 hrs. Massive nose of dense dark red fruits - cassis and black cherry. Great spice and dried herbs. Still quite young but so much potential. Paired well w grilled striploins and twice baked spuds w Cambozola. Thank you Mr Dunn & Mr Shoup for a terrific collaboration. Last of our ‘12 Feathers.

The nose identified the usual suspects of dark fruit, smoke box, saddle, spice and a hint of vanilla. The fruit has moved secondary on the palate, and now has over reliance on the acid structure.

At 15 years, this wine is fully mature. A nice break from all the just released, big, fruity wines we've been drinking from CA the past couple months. Tannins are fully integrated, nice balance, lots of flavor variety on the initial palate (sage, black currant, herbs, pencil lead, hint of menthol). Finish is a tad bit short and no secondary characteristics though. It's still a very enjoyable wine though and glad we have one more. Drink now-2022.

Last night we paired this with a curry-cured rib-eye. This wine has never lived up to the Dunn reputation. Never had the complexity of his California wines, and now at age 14, it's one-noted and proves itself past peak as the last glass devolves into soy sauce flavors. Not one of my six bottles ever having developed anything in the way of satisfying secondary nuances. It's a real problem with Washington wines: too many don't age well--they just get old, …
