Flat nose, modest cherry, nice balance

Delicious bottle of mature Pinot.

This is really a very nice Pinot but for those looking for a more bold style this is not it. The wine has a lovely garnet color and gives a bouquet filled with bay leaves, raspberry and pepper. On the palate the wine is light and silky upon which it delivers a delicate balance of fine tannins, lovely acidity and a flavor profile suggesting strawberries, sassafras and and herbs. Yes, there is a hint of heat on the back end. …

Nice, but overpriced for what it delivers. Plum, a bit of menthol, then settles into a somewhat flatter version of Dundee Hills pinot. Rich dark cherry, ripe, superficially resembling the 07 Anderson.

3rd bottle out of 6. First two were okay but definitely hot and unbalanced. This may have settled out over time or just a better bottle - pleasant and fairly rich for pinot, not in the burgundian style but tasted very similar to a good cru beaujolais.

Upon opening, very soft nose of floral and fruit aromas. I was expecting a bigger nose. On the palate, this was quite ragged and hot, enough that I thought the bottle might have been cooked along the way. But after a half hour, the wine settled down a bit but still very acidic, almost astringent. Tried again on day two, but still astringent taste overpowers any fruit.

Medium dark cherry red color; some reduction, tart cherry nose; very tart red fruit, cherry palate with a caramel edge; medium finish 88+ pts.
