Domaine des Baumard Anjou Rouge Clos de la Folie

Immediate distinct cab franc floral and mineral nose. Relatively light color. Quite tannic. Impressive tart cherry, cranberry and raspberry fruit. Delicate yet surprisingly mouth filling for such a light colored medium bodied wine. Some serious balancing acidity. Cherry finish. I think this is 100% Cab Franc. They don’t make a whole lot of this, and not much if any usually makes it to Columbia, SC, so this was a treat.

Quite heavy for a Loire red. Distinct benefit from decanting Sharp red fruit, a litle pencil lead onthe back. Moderate acidity

Very delicious and direct. Crisp, floral and a little grippy upon opening then with a brief decant you have a wine that is so charming and very much open for business - aromas of thyme, oregano and fresh soil and on the palate you've got a medium bodied wine with very well integrated tannins and flavors of black cherries, blackberries, liquorice and what my wife described as "meat" and so I asked "dried meats like sausages or something, or bloody …
