The wine looks Ruby colored, with a hint of garnet on the rim. The color is medium in intensity. The nose is clean, medium plus in intensity, with Black Pepper, Clove, Cherry, and Vanilla. The nose is developing. The palate is dry, but fruit-forward, and consistent with the nose. The acidity is medium to medium plus, which gives it a welcome lift. The alcohol is medium plus at 15%. The tannins are medium plus due to its youthfulness. The body …

Strong flavor of pepper and spice overpower the fruit in the wine. Pepper lingers a bit. A bit of dark fruit beneath the pepper.

Almost a fruit bomb but not quite. Lots of beautiful berries (raspberry especially). Nicely balanced and for $8.99 a steal. Needs some time perhaps but drinkable now. Great everyday value. Cocoa, spice, pepper. Just a nice little wine!

Maybe a fruit bomb of sorts, but not in a bad way for the price. Everything is there ... dark bramble fruit, a little vanilla from the barrel and nice acidity. For the price, it's a very nice wine.

A little more fruit forward, but very tasty. Pours dark with dark bramble fruit on the nose and palate with some nice oak vanilla thrown in. For the price, this is a keeper!

Bold. Mild pepper spice lingers. Very drinkable. Bright cherry and flower. Fresh. We like it. Lingering dry tannins.

Very happy with this Lodi. Read 2009 ratings but missed on the last of the lot. 2010 vintage still has a lot of time, but this wine is exceptional given the price point. Reminds me of the '09 Seghesio Zin. Great spice and depth you'd expect from the grape. Popped and poured on day 1. Overnight rest let it open and expose more spice and fruit on day 2. Grab this while you can for cheap.

Decanted an hour, semi-transparent crimson color, lighter mouthfeel but longer finish than expected, spice/pepper with very light tannins, simple/easy drinker, probably priced right at $11.

It started out dry and peppery, but as it opened up it became smooth and fruity. Would definitely drink it again for the price.
