The first hour after opening, it was so light, both aromatically and on the palate, I thought we'd blown right past its window for providing pleasure. Added weight and color and aroma over the second hour and turned into a genuinely beautiful, mature Margaux.

Nose of tobacco, cedar, cassis. Mouth of tart fruit with some grip to the tannins and a medium finish. Perhaps on the decline. Decent wine but not necessarily memorable.

Margaux da manuale. Fine, elegante, persistente, giocato sui fruttati, ribes ancora croccanti, bacche nere, sentori erbacei, cuoio, sottobosco, menta. Equilibrio, tannini super maturi, struttura quanto basta, ma persistenza da vino d� razza. Pi� d� quanto ci si attenderebbe da un 99. Nel pieno della maturit�, ma non da particolari cenni d� cedimento.

You feel the 22 years of age of this wine. Worth decanting it. Smooth and more on old wine nose and flavours. Only for those who like it.

Classic claret, drinking very well. Still quite forward, not showing signs of age, fruit present and nice balance.

Medium bodied, finesse in style, this elegant charmer is fully ready to deliver all its soft, fresh, earthy, floral, leafy, red berry character. The wine was made with a blend of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.

This was deep red with no bricking. Tasted youthful but it was ready. It took about an hour in the bottle to truly express itself. This was not thin or fading. The bottle was stored well and the cork was in great condition. Great structure and body. Dark fruits and a slight spice nicely integrated. Medium finish. Went very well with steak. PnP. Thin and diluted. After third consecutive disappointing experience, first 1995, then 2002 and now this, I have just about given up on Brane Cantenac. Gravely overrated wine in my opinion. At the very least, clearly not in the same league with Lascombes. By the way, I can't believe I bought another 1999 Bordeaux!

Actually a lot better than the last one and much better than I expected. Really enjoyable, with fine, dusty fruit and quite a full body. No hurry this will hold for serveral years.

Opened 2 hours prior, not decanted. Very light rust on the rim and otherwise crimson. Strong raspberry on the nose. Light mouthfeel on the first touch, thickening only slightly toward the finish with light tannins still present. Plenty of fruit; bursting really. Raspberry, blackberry, light smoke. Though not complex and light, it has held up very well and was a nice surprise of the early courses of an Italian-inspired Easter dinner.

This is drinking really well right now. Tobacco, leather, cedar shavings on the nose, plenty of fruit on the palate, soft tannins, long finish. Superb wine.

Bricking at the rim; slightly caramelly nose with spice soy and earth alongside some pretty red fruit notes; supple, flavoury and elegant palate. Nice flavour though fruit is fading fast - this needs drinking.

This is quite pleasant. Fine Margaux nose. Elegant mouthfeel. Not very long though.

This is a very nice, light, Bordeaux. There is a black cherry theme which runs through this wine more like a Burgundy than a Bordeaux. There is also a distinct note of Terroir which keeps the fruit from dominating. Hints of chocolate and dark berries are also present. The wine is definitively light in color and weight and is nothing like the classic Bordeaux wines which we all covet, however, that does not stop this wine from being enjoyable.

Elegant taste with subtle green nuances and berries. Will continue to evolve at least 2-3 years to come. Saving my last bottle...

Not a very complex wine but very enjoyable, soft, fairly light, elegant, warm and welcoming. The wine is brown and it is definetely time to consume any bottles you might have left.

Enticing nose of redcurrants, a touch of plum and then some cedar. Quite lush, blackberry and blackcurrants, underscored with Margaux silkiness and elegance. There is still a trace of tannin, but they're less obtrusive than the last time I tried this. Interesting to compare to the 98 we drank simultaneously, this has less intensity and less fruit. Very enjoyable, but not as good.
