WCC: Northern Rhônes (Fort Orange Club, Albany, NY) : Love the aromatics here. Warm earth, leather, a gentle meatiness, and bright red fruits and olives all coming together into a beautiful scent. The palate doesn't quite live up to the aromatics (if it did, this would have been in the running for my WOTN) - it feels surprisingly thin and lean with the acids dominating, and doesn't show the depth or richness I'd expect from the vintage. Northern Rhone (Fort Orange Club, Albany, NY) : [Double-decanted about 5pm.] Lovely nose of black fruit and something herbal. Silky in the mouth. This is the most ready to drink wine so far. Long and tasty.

Man I love Gallet. Classic and very mature. This being 30€ blows my mind.

Still surprisingly young with blackberries, cured meat, pepper and some floral notes, though some development showing. Would think this still has at least 5 years in it.

Closed and too young

Let this breathe in bottle for 2 hrs and after a brief initial taste decanted where we nipped at it for another 3 hrs. The nose initially had some barnyard like smells but not overwhelming. There were bubbles in decanter and glass that did not go away but the wine was not at all carbonated tasting. It seems very young atm.

Beautiful Côte-Route full of floral, pepper, roasted meat and soy notes on the nose. Dark fruits and spice, with a herbaceous hint at the end on the palate. Still young after only 9 years with a rich but elegant palate that still maintains an exciting wild/sauvage edge.

A beauty, this starts off with aromas of flowers and animals. Elegance and complexity here, lovely dark red fruit, olives, herbs. Structure and balance perfect. Love this wine.

Opened and decanted about an hour before drinking. Very expressive nose of purple flowers, olives, dark berries and a bit of asphalt. Classic in many ways, and what I look for aromatically. I thought the palate was showing very well, large scale but not over the top, round and bright in the mouth with plenty of acid to balance the fruit. Tannins were present, not intrusive. Great....but don't open. Tight and bitey. Even with lots of air it's in a green olive and violet floral exuberance phase but the tannins need to mellow. Still quite nice.

Delicious. Balanced. Pepper and spice nose. In good place

This begins with a very reductive nose, along with game/venison. Palate shows sweet and tangy dark fruits, soft and round sides, and a sleek texture. Zak calls this pretty approachable, but has aged characteristics already, is generous and has high-toned acidity. Jason gets "grapefruit hair salon". Whatever that is (VA?) Later, shows frothy purple fruit, primary, smooth and not yet shut down. Delicious. Bottle 1 of 6. Fuck yeah. At Amali.

fairly dark black mulberry colored. Very smoky, gamey syrah fruit, almost a hint burnt. The palate has dense smoky briny flavors. Very interesting, but at this phase I get almost no berry fruit, just smoky savory flavors.
