Quick Notes Series Certainly not the best Anne Gros I've had. I think this wine is already quite tired and probably needs to be drank sooner rather than later. Besides the greenness that's quite apparent on the palate (probably a 04 thing again) I just find the wine imbalanced in general. Was not enjoyable. Drink: now+ Rating: 85

Earthiness came through. Fruit feels a little on the ripe side. Plenty of acidity. Overall enjoyable.

Can’t say I didn’t try here. I’ve had 4 of these bottles over time and thought eventually the wine would come around and show some signs of fruit and/enjoyability...I opened and decanted an hr. Drank over the next few hrs and left 2 glasses in decanter overnight...Didn’t really change much other than fading the second day which arguably made the wine more drinkable...

Weekly tasting group RWP #310; Surprise 4 x 3 wines (@ BS) : Beautiful and complex bouquet with red berries and autumn impressions. Same on the palate, earth, juicy acidity, beautiful acidity and slightly sticky tannin. Well balanced wine with a good length. Ready now.

Light ruby color. Sweet cherry nose that has an earthy, forest floor supporting cast. Light body but good intensity. A very nice wine that is drinking well. (91)

Good effort in a tough year. The weight is there, but a little light on the finish, and a little too much black cherry. The fruit might burn off over time and we may see more nuance to the wine.

A very nice bottle of this inconsistent wine. No green (unlike some recent bottles) – light, pretty fruit. Shows little extraction (a smart plan for the vintage) but nice flavor profile. Light and refreshing. Don’t expect too much but nice. (89)

Great stuff here. Plethora of flavors on the nose including flowers, rain, mud, smoke, and just a hint of rubber. Bright cherry and raspberry fruit, herbal and acidic on the finish. An "elegant" Burg. 91-93pts.

This bottle is losing some fruit. Therefore, the green is showing a bit more than past bottles. Still OK, but not the best bottle. (85)

Burgundy conversion for Sean (Incontro) : v expressive nose of green spicy capsicums and cab franc notes. This really felt more like a Bordeaux than anything else. In fact it reminded me a bit of cantermerle. High acidity sour Cherries and strawberries. V unorthodox but drinking much more interesting than before. Nose is definitely stronger.

Light ruby to pink/clear at rim. Very tight and “green” when opened – nothing like when tasted a few years ago. Settled down considerably after being opened for 90 minutes. Nose certainly includes an herbaceous note, but the dominate tones are pure, bright red pinot fruit and a lovely leafy complexity – I like it a good bit, in fact. Almost no fruit and a prevailing acidity, almost like the wine had been heavily acidified. Bad bottle? It didn't carry the green notes so often pegged on the vintage, but offering no charm at this stage. Wait a year to see if it comes together. The Finest Burgundy Domains: The Classical 2004 (Caveau) : Light red. A hilly journey of chinese herbs alternating with mushrooms. Quite unsettled. Another very NZ like on the approach with sweetish straightforward cherries.

Vinum 2004 Burgundy Tasting (Caveau, Singapore) : This was not showing well at all on the day - completely overshadowed by the cheaper and better JJ Confuron Chambolle Village from the earlier flight. Light, almost garnet colour. Hardly any fruit showing on the nose, which displayed prominent mushroom and chalk characters. Very closed and not very Chambolle at all. Started out a little tart--not the overblown raspberry from 03. However, this is likely a more food worthy wine as the austerity of the wine paired well with sirloin kebobs. I will likely drink my stash over the next 4 years. Can't wait for the 05's!

(opened for 7 hours) Ruby fading to pale pink at rim. Lovely, floral nose with cherry accents. Delicate and pretty, though still youthful. There is just the slightest hint of mocha from barrel aging in the glass. Wonderfully vibrate and delicate, though not weak. Very pure pinot flavors without a lot of window dressing. Not great QPR; but a beautiful totally chambolle profile pinot that should gain in complexity with 3 to 5 years aging -- though it is not …

I lighter version than last year's vintage. Still a rising chorus of crushed raspberries, but lacking the power (or alcohol?) of the hot 03. Perhaps this will prove to be a good wine with roast chicken etc. Tonight's dinner of roast turkey will decide this question. Anyhow, a solid effort especially for $25; can't wait for the 05's though!!!
