So I blinded the group with a white, and Josh was first to guess “It reminds me of a Double Zero Chardonnay from Oregon.” Bravo Sweet pear and a hint of hazelnut, brisk acids, long mineral finish. Balanced and impressive. A-/B+

Needed a lot of air. Big and chewy. A bit of a bruiser but lacked a bit of definition and balance at this stage. Could use a few more years, but for me, it's not worth the price.

This intriguing and pure Chardonnay needs another 6-12 months to hit its stride, since the clarity and intensity are there... but time is necessary to help it all unfold. I actually preferred one of the (cheaper) appellation level bottles, the VGW, when I tasted it a few months ago, but there's no doubt this is a classy wine that is heading in a promising direction.
