Un brin fermé et austère. Cuir et mures avec de la terre. Café et épices avec des tannins charnus. Finale longue et un peu asséchante.

80–84: Drinkable but forgettable — simple, unbalanced, wouldn’t buy again. 85–89: Good everyday — pleasant, balanced, reliable but not distinctive. 90–92: Very good — some depth, personality, and polish. Worth rebuying, will never fail. 93–95: Excellent — complex, expressive, layered, clear sense of place. 96–98: Exceptional — powerful yet elegant; truly memorable wine. 99–100: Benchmark — near-perfect, transcendent, one of the best ever. Dark ruby color. Nose shows dark cherry, plum, fresh stem, and graphite minerality. On the palate, clean …

Classic Bordeaux left bank blend. Dark red fruit. Not huge, but big. Not overwhelming but substantial. Clean, very nice nose. For the price, this is so much more satisfying and enjoyable than anything I have found in California for the last 20 years. After tasting this twice, I ran back to buy every bottle they had.

Nice bordeaux. I'll let my other bottles rest for at least another year. In the meantime, decant.

This is good stuff. Classic Bordeaux. Dark garnet colour. Cassis and graphite. Well balanced. Medium to low tannins. Really enjoyed this

Pretty ridiculous value here. Decanted for 1h, poured an ounce or two, back to bottle over night. Feels very classic Saint Estephe to me--dark fruited sauvage, white pepper, tobacco, minty eucalyptus. Well-balanced acidity with solid tannic support. Insane value for ~$30. Should improve and develop for at least 10 years if not longer. 92+

Not impressed upon PNP, but wow did this evolve after 30 minutes in the glass. First impression was "very primary and tannic, don't open another one for 8 years" but after getting some air, this turned into something entirely different. I'm going to return to Costco to get more of these, just need to remember to decant them if I open them anytime soon.

Decanter Fine Wine Encounter (The Landmark, London) : Rich ripe plummy fruits, sweet oak spice, a little cedary note. It's a little lean and green on the palate though, alcohol warmth but also drying grainy tannins that are tight and unwieldy. It's a little too extracted for me and the (post taste checked) 14.5% alcohol adds to this impression.

Sparkling purple A slightly timid nose of black fruits, licorice, roasted notes, leather, cinnamon, and vanilla. On the palate, a medium body with a lovely persistence, a creamy texture, and refreshing acidity. Pourpre étincelant Nez un peu timide, fruits noirs, réglisse, notes torréfiées, cuir, canelle, vanille. En bouche, un corp médium avec une belle persistance, une texture crémeuse et une acidité rafraîchissante.

Flowers, garrigue, tobacco, and currants create the character here. Medium-bodied, quite fresh, and vibrant, the forward, soft-textured palate, finishes with crisp, chewy, peppery red berries. The wine blends 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot.13% ABV. Drink from 2027-2038. 89-91 Pts

The first bottle of a 14-bottle case (yes, 14 different producers in the same case!) of Crus Bourgeois Exceptionels. Beautiful case with a book describing each individual producer, with technical info, pictures and tasting notes...Impressive. Excellent St-Estèphe, still young...but drinking beautifully. Aromatic nose of blackberries, chocolate and notes of vanilla. Very good and quality tannins on the palate. Well balanced, with a medium to long finish. Enjoy now or cellar for another 5-7 years without any problem.

Boysenberry, damson, liquorice, peony, sage, and violet. Intense and complex as well as mouthwatering. Long and interesting. A beautiful wine, to my mind the best of the 2020 CBE, rivalled only by d'Agassac. Will definitely improve with cellaring. Drink 2030 - 2040. 92+ points.

Medium purple color with bright violet rim Raspberries and earth on the nose Tight before decanting. Dark fruit, pencil lead, and lemon on the palate Strong acidity and strong tannins. This dry and spicy wine is pleasant on the palate. It relaxes nicely after a couple of hours if decanting. Great value.

Nose: heavy dose of graphite; ripe boysenberries, sweet cedar smells "thick". Palate: tart dark cherry, polished tannins; there's a sweet ripe raspberry in the background that plays against the tart cherry; sweet leather.

Medium-bodied, soft, creamy and fresh, with layers of ripe, polished red currants, blackberries, spice, chocolate and a sprig of fresh mint at every turn, this is going to be delicious on release and it also offer additional levels of complexity with a few years of age. Drink from 2023-2038.

With good color, the wine is bright, fresh, juicy and richly textured. Medium/full-bodied with loads of ripe, sweet, round berries, spice and chocolate in the finish. This is is so good today, you can enjoy it right now. And it will be even better with just a few years of age. 90-92

Chewy, fresh, bright, sweet, earthy red pit fruits and tobacco leaf show with little effort on the nose. On the palate the wine is round, juicy, sweet and fruit and a nice spicy endnote that delivers blackberry and currants. Give this just a year or two and enjoy it over the next 12-15 years. Value seekers should be all over this one.

Earthy black cherries, clay, smoke and licorice sensations for the aromatic character. On the palate the wine is round, soft, sweet and juicy. The fruit is easy to like, due to its perfect ripeness. In the finish, spice, licorice and blackberry kick in and stay there. Give this just a year or two and enjoy it over the next 12-15 years. The wine was produced from 45% Merlot, 40.% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Value seekers …

Very classical nose, with plenty of cassis and red bell peppers. The palate is simply elegant with good core fruits and nice tannic structure but nicely balanced with acid and very well dissolved oak. Drinks beautifully now!

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #104; St. Estèphe (By BS) : The color is red with still a purple hue. In the bouquet dark berries, toast, matches, minerals and rustic and barnyard flavors. On the palate creamy red berries, a bit lactic, laurel, licorice, firm acidity and ok tannin. The most disappointing wine of the flight (to my surprise!), but maybe a few years of ageing will help. 88 for tonight.

Wine Cellar - Bordeaux Left Bank (Wine Cellar) : (Tasted Blind): A mid-ruby colour with a youthful nose of solid cherry, toasty new oak, chocolate and mocha. Fragrant with just a smidgeon of volatility. An elegant, finessed wine with vibrant acidity and grippy+ tannins, there is just about enough richness of fruit to work and a long, long length. Va slightly invasive but not too bad.
