OMG. This has aged beautifully! Still plenty of fruit, gentle tannins and incredibly smooth!

Still heavy on the tannins 6 years in, and with some heat at 14.2% alcohol, this is a brute. Standard red-fruit flavors, but nothing exotic. Needs food to tame.

slightly muted nose but very nice on the palate. Medium body, opaque and bright. Creamy mouth feel and decent finish

AGM For the $, a very good bottle. Lots of fruit including raspberry, blackberry and a hint of citrus. Not a heavy cab-like merlot...rather Bordeauxish.

Same comments as everyone else. it was a good merlot but lacked character. Almost tasted more like Cab than Merlot. Not great but not bad. I wouldn't buy again as I think you can find better for the price.

Definitely did not knock my socks off, but it was good. A good everyday wine. Lots of red fruit with a little bit of a cocoa undertone. I wish the chocolate/cocoa were a little more pronounced as I get a lot of of the red fruit on the finish.

Nice expressive fruit on the front end, almost cab like. Mid palate does not bring out anything special in this wine. Finish was a bit of a let down, with a fairly quick end. I bought this after having this with a delicious steak at Mitchell's Steak House in Columbus, OH. At the time, I thought the pairing was dynamite and wanted to try this again. Second Cousins (Farpointe Cellar) : The nose had woodsy herbs and raspberry, and a little mocha. The palate had plum and raspberry, some herbs, and a little vanilla on the finish.

Served at party -- perfectly pleasant but didn't seem to have a great deal of character. There must be more interesting Merlots for the price -- I wish I knew what they were :)

Well-made but not particularly distinctive with a nice mix of black fruit, tobacco, soil and oak flavors. Structured on the palate with tannins providing a firm mid-palate and finish.

A good wine with berry and spice notes. A bit too much oak (vanilla) for my taste. Maybe a little more aging will take this one to the next level. It shows promise.

Gritty tannins, and juicy red fruits combine to form a medium + bodied wine with good persistence. A decent mid-palate and low acidity. This likely needs one year in the bottle and it will start talking a bit more. $24 at the winery. A solid, well-made wine.

Though the FS merlots still stand in the shadow of their cabs, the 06 merlot is full of bing cherry, berries and spice. This one was excellent with spicy italian food.
