Pisano Tannat RPF (Reserva Personal de la Familia)

Tannat often offers quite a ride. This wine is pretty voluptuous. Shows great character, quality and volume. Feels like a family produced wine. Great fruit, long structure, and a smoky, spicy, phenomenal finish. Quite a sensational ride.

Majsmagning Vinstyrke 12 (Spar Nord, Hjørring) : Mørk rød lettere violet farve. Kraftig vellavet vin med et sødligt præg kombineret med en behagelig frugtsyre. Rigtig fin vin.

ChTR kokous 4.3.2009 (SKO-toimisto) : Decanted for an hour, tasted double blind. This was completely inky black with perhaps a violet tinge to it. The nose was very fullsome with cassis and vanilla and with airtime some oak coming through. The palate was extremely tannic, drying up the mouth completely, very strong cassis and some oak coming through. Color (5/5): Dark, glass-clinging black-purple. A tasting pour is nearly opaque at the center. Nose (12/15): Pipe tobacco and cigar box on PnP; dark fruit and a hint of vanilla/marzipan after some air. Rather tame somehow. Palate/Finish (13/20): Tobaccoey stewed blue and black berries with anise and patent leather. The tannins that appear from mid-palate are tame, not rough, but assertively present through the longish bitter-sweet oak finish.
