Riesling 15 & 20 years after (Restaurant Holz und Feuer, Kirchheim, Germany) : *** Brief notes for my own memory, no full tasting note *** Glass: Zalto Bordeaux Popped and poured, drunk over several hours. Needed time and air. Can't compete with the 2004, warm fruit, a bit broad. Nevertheless a very, very good wine that has at least another 5+ years of development ahead. 93

Wonderful to experience this monster with leaner and bit more restrained Jesuitengarten of same vintage. This is packed with dense concentration, wow, few glasses and you feel you had a meal, thank God for that just as enormous acidity which keeps you wanting yet another sip. Pronounced complex aroma of honey, quince, peach, jasmine, spices, roasted cashews, touch of smoke and flint. Medium body, round, deep, densely structured and powerfully concentrated with as pronounced high acidity and everlasting finish.

From 75cl, bought at winery in 2011, perfectly cellared and not moved since. The top of the disgusting cork disintegrated into dust and spongey pieces, despite my best efforts with an ah-so. Bottleneck removed with port tongs— surely this shouldn't be necessary for a wine bottled 13 years ago, sold back then for 70 EUR (more recent vintages retail for nearly 150€)? Ein wahrhaft Großes Gewächs!!! Dem Jahrgang entsprechend nicht ganz schlank, aber mit toller Struktur,Balance und schon fast cremiger Textur. Ausreichend perfekt eingebundene Säure und eine schon ins dunkelgelbe gehende wunderschöne tropische Frucht. Eins der schönsten 09er GGs die hatte! For some reason the cork was very dry and did not come out in one piece. Color was a slightly darkened but not quite orange. Absolutely fantastic Riesling! Full bodied with ripe almost tropical fruit, huge extract and perfect balance between high acidity and sugar. At a great stage to drink now, not many tertiary aromas but great clarity of fruit.

Almost instantly, you can smell the luxury and maturity of this Grand Cru Pfalz riesling. Floral and and not at all blatantly fruity, it exudes with refinement, it's even a bit shy. There was a small hint of TCA! It definitely needs some time and aeration to fully reveal its luxury. Bürklin Wolf Young vs. Old (Louis C. Jacob, Hamburg) : Light to medium yellow. In the nose, this is fairly closed down, whiteish to yellowish with floral notes, apricots, some spice. Difficult to assess. On the palate, it's harmonic, it's good tension and grip, there's some minerality. The acidity is mild, but present enough to give the wine some backbone. Fairly short finish right now. Needs time, five additional years minimum.
