This bottle was better in shape and was up to expectations. I had to test this again as my previous bottle was starting to show oxidation and getting over the hill. Seems it was an off bottle.

Starts to show oxidation. Not too bad yet but the oxidation is undeniable, making the wine heavy and less fresh than I would expect. (additional edit: was an off bottle it seems, I tried another bottle a week or so later and that showed properly.)

I quite thoroughly enjoyed this but others thought it didn't taste like SB and was also over the hill. So the exact reasons that I enjoyed it.

Rich and round with some weight on the palate. Lemon grass, exotic fruit and a hint of herbs. Starting to show some age with dried fruit and ginger, all nicely integrated. Pale gold colour. Pronounced aromas of lemon zest, marmalade, passion fruit, mango, roasted almonds, grapefruit pith, dried sage, lemon grass, ginger. Medium (+) intensity palate. Medium body, high acidity, long finish.

Tasted alongside the Pierre 2016. The Gallo's make the best wine Sauvignon Blanc can produce. They need a little aging, the 2016 was perfect. The Vieris gave the impression of much more oak, more complexity and als good length. The Piere was vibrant, fresh and round, good acidity and length. Two miracles. Both 92. Superb Price/Quality.

Intense nose of lemon, grass, citrus and stone. In palate, weirdly spicy like ginger, or lemongrass. Fruitiness and minerality is really nice and easily outperform many popular new world SB but this strong spicy palate and aftertaste seems to make some people hate this. For me, it was peculiar but enjoyable. A little higher temperature than common SB would be preferable for this to show its attractive notes.

Touch of gooseberry and pineapple. And lots of texture on the palate and a touch of match stick as well. And driving acidity on the palate.

After 24 hours, Tropical fruit overrules the freshness, but what a fantastic Sauvignon Blanc. Characteristics are more pronounced in Pierre, so 1 point less.

Tasted immediately after the Pierre. As good as Pierre, but more tropical fruit, banana, that, for me, hides and overrules some of the qualities. For that reason 91, perhaps underrated, but the competition with the Pierre was not in favor of the score. So 91+++

The nose showed ripe peach, pear, sweet florals and spice. On the palate, silky textures coated the senses as vibrant acidity added liveliness to it’s flavors of young mango, sweet herbs, spice and minerals. The finish was long, floral and spicy with lingering notes of ripe mango and apple.

Unique. Peppery spice and floral scent. Peach and honeydew melon on the front end. Transitions to grapefruit and stone flavor and finishes with serious tart grip.

The deep yellow color informs its age. It is unlikely to be identified as a Sauvignon Blanc in a blind tasting. Although atypical, its beautiful, plush, stone fruit, citrus and mineral depth of flavor is undeniable and unique.

Good but not awesome structure/acidity... Thought flavor profile/secondary flavors were good but additional complexity would make this sing at a super high level. At the highest level Sauvignon blanc from n Italy can be as good as anywhere in the world

An excellent s.b. from Nortern Italy, whose sauvignon blancs are often unfairly not appreciated as being among the best in the world. Years ago, in a blind tasting where I participated, a sauvignon blanc from Alto Adige -namely San Mickael Eppan's Sankt Valentin 2005- ranked #1 beating all N.Z.s, Loires and Bordeaux against which it was tasted. Now this is the third time I come across this gem from Friuli, which combines complexity and freshness with seductive character. Even more …

Very intense on the nose, this smells like old wood combined with flowers and a thouch of honey. It is full bodied but has the freshness of the sauvignon. Beautiful balance and very long. A wine with complexity that is ready to impress!

At first I thought it was a top class white Bordeaux as it had similar aromatics (tropical fruit and grassiness combined) and oak treatment. However this is quite full bodied with creamy texture and masked acidity and quite high but integrated alcohol. A very fine wine which combines ripeness with freshness and has a very long aftertaste.

Medium straw. Expressive nose with lemon grass, green fig, pineapple, toast and nicely integrated sweet oak. Full-bodied, creamy-textured and ultra-rich with moderate but sufficient acidity to counter-balance the wine's creamyness. Very long aftertaste. A great s.b. from northern Italy.
