Better than last tasting 4 years ago. Lime, grapefruit and a bit of petrol on the nose. Slightly spritzy in the glass on first opening. Great balance of acidity and sweetness. Excellent overall.

2016 vintage

Nice Riesling. Not sure the quality for price is reasonable considering the other bottles available. Clemens Busch for example is spectacular and probably half the price? Super high acidity. Petrol aroma. Classic. Just perhaps not the best value given other bottles available.

2022 vintage

Light straw gold. No visible carbonation, but quite zesty and almost spritzy. Fruity sweet feel, but finishes rather dry (seeming much drier than most Kabinetts). Some petrol on the nose, quite fascinating to drink. Tons of acidity. Definitely hitting above its station.

This was fun. Some seepage at the capsule. 2nd time to try the wine and it felt like slightly less RS this time around. Regardless a fairly fun and exotic QbA, with dried apricot, diesel and hay. Coming along nicely

Elegant, piercing notes of elderflower, fresh ripe apples, wet stone, white honey, dill and ginger. The merest hint of kerosene. The mid-palate is racy, polished and pure, with a touch of off-dry sweetness in perfect balance, leading to a long, gum-coating and saline finish. With Tuna Tataki and ponzu dressing.

Short note - pale, greene apples, lime, flower nectar, peach, very clean and precise, 7.5gr acidity, 35gr rs, long finish, concentrated, very well made. Outstanding quality and quite open considering the age. 92p

Petro og svidd gummi på duft først. Litt gummi i munnen også. Satser på at det lar seg lufte vekk - veldig forstyrrende til å begynne med, selv om syre og sødme virker å være i balanse. Dag 2 er gummien endelig vekk. Nokså lite duft igjen, faktisk, men i munnen er det en superelegant riesling med god fylde og herlig syre av grønne epler. Mer elegant enn 2017 nå.

Tasted from magnum. Very typical Saar, with mineral and stone notes, accompanied by citrus, white flowers, some white honey. However this is quite rich, some noticeable redisual sugar, which gives it a very nice balance. Gets even better with air

Bright, tart, lively, with good body without being heavy. We detected, not enough to be sparkling, but perhaps a “twinkle”? Loads of green apple. We will seek this out again.

I really enjoyed this. Off dry with 9.5 % abv. Nice lime and grapefruit notes, great acidity to balance the sweetness. Crisp and clean mouth watering finish that makes you want another sip.

2 of 3 of us were very pleased with this wine (one thought it was a bit sweet). Bright and fresh, with plenty of acidity which balanced the sweetness. Good with Greek Chicken Rollups.

By the glass at Noble Rot in Wellington. Lime, petrichor/stone, salt. Quite moderately off dry, with the ample acidity and minerality center stage. Questionable value, but otherwise perfectly enjoyable.

My last bottle, and my best. Delicious balance of acidity and fruit here. I have generally found this wine so far behind the Scharzhofberger Kabinett in the EM lineup that I questioned its value...but this showed surprising complexity through layers of rocks, apples, apricots, and flowers. This is on the lighter end of the riesling spectrum with a lot of minerality and an appealing bitterness. Very little apparent sweetness. Not particularly distinctive and if you like the style your money will be better spent on the estate rieslings of Donnhoff, Keller, Von Winning, etc.

Glass: Zalto Universal Popped and poured, drunk over three days. This is one of the most expensive estate Rieslings in Germany. Clear, pale lemon-green color. Clean, medium intense, youthful nose. Very reductive that only vanished on day three. Some very strange notes. You could call it “medicinal” or fresh guave. I will call it guave. Also some lime and herbs. Off-dry, medium+ racy acidity. Only 9,5% abv. On the palate again “Guave”, grapefruit bitterness, fresh lime. Not very convincing so …

Small glass, brief note. Complex array of apple, pear and lemon with ginger and lemongrass. Forward and rich start comes across as fun but simple, but nuance slowly emerged with more time in glass. Easy to be tricked into thinking this is simpler than it will be with a few years in the cellar.

Catado en la visita a la bodega. Elaborado exclusivamente en Inox. 19 gr/l de azúcar residual. La nariz aparece inicialmente reducida y con una marcada mineralidad, fruta amarillo con hueso madura. En boca tiene excelente entrada, el dulzor se percibe, los amargos son ideales, la acidez impactante, con cierta untuosidad aunque pasa muy fluido, largo y con gran profundidad.

Drank at Schanz. Laser sharp acidity yet very light and quaffable. Surprisingly complex for a QBA, with some smoke, tart green apple, lime zest, and apricot one moment and then sweeter fruits, including grilled pineapple and peach, and honey notes the next.
