Copain, Brosseau Vineyard Syrah, Monterey

Solid Syrah. Deep, dark color with an amazing nose and first notes of dark red fruits. It Gets a little boring on the pallet after sitting in the glass for a bit. Worth the 25-30 dollars, just wish it held up a bit more to air

Muted spice nicely merged with plenty but not too much fruit flavor. Drinking very well, drink now.

Lovely wine that does a good Northern Rhône impression. Nose of freshly picked white and purple flowers, blueberries, wet stone and clay, and a meatiness between bacon and salami. Tons of acidity almost overwhelms the palate, but the sweet floral and blueberry character carries over. I’d suggest at least a couple more years for the acidity to relax and drink 2026-2036.

Blackberry, blueberry, black pepper, granite, violets. Medium-plus body. Drink now or in the next 2-3 years.

Nice distinction between this Monterrey County Syrah and the Copain Mendocino County offering. This is much darker in color and heavier in body. Nose combines dark fruit, herbs and perfume and taste is well-balanced with a full, dry, smooth finish; surprising at only 13.1 ABV.
