Dark ruby turning brick orange at the rim with a reflective edge. The nose gives off high octane whiiffs of dark berries and smoke. The palate, even at this stage, shows intensity of ripe flavors of blackberry, raisiny blueberry, dark cherry and kirsch balanced by medium acidity. The high alcohol carries the mid palate with secondary flavors of cola on toasted oak through the long spicy finish.

Dark purple color. Super ripe and extracted cassis, boysenberry, plum, blackberry jam. and vanilla. Very port like. Better on days 1. 15% abv. Too much for my tastes these days.

PnP Loads of boysenberry, roasted wild blackberry, pepper and some black forest ham. Huge, intense and mouth coating. Plenty of Shiraz character. Very few tannins and a bit of heat on the back end. This bottle was drinking at peak. Continue to age at your own risk.

Having tasted daily during all of 2018, some days reaching as high as 64 wines such as at the Masters of Wine, some delving into the 1990's Beaune and Barolo, just to give reference, I must declare my best of year, so far, as some superstars have yet to be degusted during this last week, is Schulz Marcus 2003. This bottle took a full 24 hours to show, but it was near perfect in its lush texture, elegant balance of …

Smooth and balanced despite 15% alcohol. Pepper dominates. Unless you have a very sweet tooth, food pairing is essential to enjoy this.

If you don't mind its sweetness and jammy mouth feeling, this is exceptional. It kept on evolving into night 3.

I have mostly moved away from Shiraz, but this was quite good, and I find age for Shiraz makes the wine more appealing to me. Inky black/purple and a strong cassis nose; almost port like in its richness, with a nice tannic structure. Much more interesting after day 1. Drinking well now.

4th of 5 bottles and what was always a very good wine is now exceptional - beautiful fruit and fruit forward but quite complex and not at all jammy - perhaps at peak but will be great for a while - next in 18 -24 months

Upon unscrewing the cap, huge medicine nose. Jammy and sweet. Brick color on the edge. Almost cough syrup aftertaste. This one needs a lot of air time; it only started coming together on 3rd day.

Pop and pour drank with a lunch of leftover pork c hop and pasta. Very enjoyable. Dark and concentrated lots of dark berry fruit. The alcohol is apparent but not troublesome for me. The pedigree comes through finish lasts at least 30 seconds. May get better but very nice right now

On day two: ripe with blueberries on the front, a port finish, hot; yet really fun all the same.

Very dark, almost black. Big nose with a bit too much olive and tapenade component, with some vanilla and tar. Big concentration on the palate, with gobs of dark fruit. Not jammy or overly hot. A bit of pepper. I did not realize until after drinking that this was a Dave Powell wine. Certainly unlike any other Powell wines I have had, in terms of being more of the perceived prototypical Australian behemoth -- I certainly prefer his Torbreck work …

Yum! Same notes, but some blueberry coming through. Reminds of Blue-Eyed Boy, but with better balance.

There's just something about this wine, I can't quite stomach. The initial nose was of strong, rubbery reduction of some kind (could it be the screw-cap?)... Deep, purple; there's no doubt this thing has serious power and concentration. Personally, I couldn't get beyond what to me was an overwhelming, briney-olive paste element. Every fourth sip or so held this in some proportion with the other undeniable flavors (blackberry, road tar, pepper), but most of the time it predominated in a …

Same as prior notes. Excellent Shiraz. Opened about two hours and then decanted. Paired extremely well with Beef Tenderloin with Peppercorns.

Wow! Would have been ben WOTN if not for the Elderton. Black currant, prunes, and blackberries. Can't remember the last time I have had two back-to-back wines this good! Has lots of room to grow, but you won't be disappointed if you open it now.
