Ceretto, Barbaresco

Ruby with a garnet rim. The nose shows cherry, strawberry, and rose, layered with vanilla and gentle spice. 3 hour decant. The aromatic profile is open and immediately accessible, leaning toward ripe fruit. On the palate, the tannins are soft yet still provide some grip, supported by medium acidity. a bit softer and did not overly open with decanting. Soft on the palate and nose, hints of spices. Lighter purple color, not much heft, but very approachable. Serve with light pasta sauce of mushrooms

Opened to breathe for 2-3h from an enoteca in Torino. Vanilla and roses on the nose. The palate has tart red fruit, balanced with tannins and hints of spices. 90/91

Ah, a soft Nebbiolo with a kiss of sweetness on the palate. So good.

Fantastic! Perhaps the warmth of 2012 showed through a little but haven't tried anything from Ceretto before. Roses, sous bois, rosehip and nailvarnish remover. Balance is pretty good and acid is plenty. Elegant and not over extracted, nor is it too lean for pleasure. Strikes that balance pretty nicely I think. Would like to try again.

Aromatics are really nice hear, plenty of floral (rose) notes as well as sweet spice, cherry and lean notes of tobacco when tasted.

Dark fruit dominate the nose together with some tar and tobacco. Rather harsh acidity and some oak bitterness in the finish. Fine grained but rather grippy tannins. Some blueberries and tar on a thin palate.

Notes of strawberry on the nose. Fresh tannin in the mouth, but well integrated.

Lite color Okay

Great for it's level. Very good nebbiolo, showing young it's class and potential.
