Drank in Jersey - loved it. Blueberry was my number 1 note. Still got a long way left to run.

This has come together with more time. On the nose: licorice, red fruit, mint, plum and violets. Wonderful nose. On the palate: tart cherry, strawberry, hints of herbs and earth. Bright acidity and silky tannins. Long finish

Decanted for 1 hour Blind I would have said this was a middle tier Bordeaux from a good, not great year. The nose is old-world with some barnyard and vegetal notes behind the dark fruit. If this were Bordeaux, the style is what some would call "classic," but I would suggest "on the austere side" might be more accurate. There is still significant tannin. Perhaps it will improve with age.

Decanted for one hour Medium garnet - light nose of milk chocolate, star anise, rose, cherry, dried leaves, light touch of earth, is this a Nebbiolo? On the palate, you know, this really does taste like a Nebbiolo, especially the flavors and chewy tannins. Anyways, it is exceptionally well balanced with excellent freshness and no heat at all. Fruit is on the tarter side, but I don't mind it. Length is medium long with sour cherries on the finish. It …

Not sure if this was an off bottle, but this was disappointing given the positive reviews about the wine. This felt flat and lacking in expression; if I was tasting this blind I would guess that this was a grocery store wine that goes for $20-25 and had no more than 4 years of age.

Lovely, especially after 2 hours in the decanter. Very similar to my last tasting note from August 2024. As good as most Brunellos. Aging well and I will be tough to keep my hands off in the days ahead.

Floral, soil/limestone, red plum and black cherry notes on the nose. This medium to full bodied wine has a palate of red and sour cherries, plum, touch of oak spice and cassis. Quite round and elegant, with vibrant acidity and the elegance belying significant tannic structure. The tannins and acidity are little harsh on the finish, but the finish of red and black cherries, slightly candied plums, and sweet soil notes round a really pleasant finish. Not too oaky, which …

Entering the zone. Decanted about 1 hr., really started opening up in the glass after 10 mins of so. Tannins are still very present for drinking on its own today. A perfect compliment with food. Slightly herbal nose, juicy red fruit profile, present confident tannins, balanced acidity. Pure pleasure. Probably another 5yrs from peaking. Should go at least another decade.

Really surprised to find I didn’t like this much two years ago. But this rating is a night two rating—some more age and air helped enormously. Was the kind of herbal, fruity balanced Tuscan that suits my palate. Some leather and tobacco with the Tuscan herb and fruit profile.

Surprised by low scores, I thought a lovely wine and great value at £65 per bottle. Slightly preferred it to my previous £60-75 best value price bracket red, Montevertine 2016. Both 13.5% alcohol and you can tell Needs over 4 hours to open up.

This bottle, from a six-pack, was so much better than the previous two (which seemed affected in some way). This was lively and attractive. Surprisingly light-bodied, and racy, it showed the Tuscan terroir. Feels a bit over-priced though.

First time with this label. Displays a deep, clear ruby color; medium body. In spite of being nine years, initial tasting led me to believe this needed decanting; quite tight out of the bottle. As it opens there’s a poupori of aromas showing rose florals, green tobacco, black tea, saw dust, ripe cherry, fresh raspberry, taut leather and rich black dirt. Follows through on the palate. Clearly in development. Foundation elements are in a state of flux; definitely could use …

Freshest tasting of my three bottles despite being opened last. Cedar, leather, black cherry, velum, dried herbs, black pepper, chalk. One of the better Sangios I've had, but only slightly and not worthy of the price premium. Coupled with bottle variation and I say avoid. However, this bottle was delicious.

I enjoyed this more than my last tasting of it back in 2022. Very pure fruit, true to the varietal and classic style. Lots of sour cherry and earth on the finish. Had this been served to me blind, I would have called it a top shelf Brunello. Decanted for two hours.

Unfortunately, I think I waited to long to drink this bottle. Much of the fruit was gone. It did benefit with a decant and the last glass was clearly the best. My score reflects price/value. For the cost of this bottle, and the professional reviews, I expected better.

Yet another bottle from this lot that is tart without the cherry. Fruit just isn't there. I love it when herbs, tea, and earth flavors give depth and complexity to elegant fruit. But there's no fruit and no elegance in this or 3 of the other 4 bottles I bought of this. I declined to score 2 of the other 3 bottles, but I'll now call this spade a spade. Presumably other lots of 2015, and other vintages, of this …

Nose of ripe cherry, cedar, damp earth, clay — clear and precise nose, has intensity but doesn’t feel expansive. The palate is the same with a nice sense of focus, ripe berries, potpurri, dried flowers, subtle leather. Tannins are grippy, but not obtrusive. Really nice sense of clarity throughout. Not a wine that will “blow you away”, its beauty is how elegant and tidy it is.

I originally purchased 3 bottles of this wine. The first was cooked, the second was ok, and this one was singing over the course of 2 days. On the nose, cherry, balsamic, tomato leaf, tobacco, hints of herbs, and a saline note. The palate is pretty and restrained, with great balance between acid and fine grained tannins. I’m very happy with this bottle.

Reviews on this wine are all over the map. Bottle variation or is this wine that confusing? Personally, I thought this was excellent. Nice developed notes of wet earth and leather, countered by a still fresh, high-toned cherry note. Similar on the palate, with subtle tannins and bright acid adding to a silky mouthfeel. Still on the upswing in my opinion and should continue to improve, but worth checking in on now if you have a few bottles.

This baby is barely ready to wake up from a nap. It will be much better in 5 years. Tight, structured, deep, intense. The nose is fairly closed. The palate is lasered in on graphite at this point. The tannins are gripping firmly. For drinking now, must decant for hours. I'm sure it will be more expressive tomorrow than today..
