Spice, pepper, dark fruits and dried flowers. A weaker finish and stick to Pinot.

Floral violets and raspberry fruit on a brambly bouquet, palate is lush and bright with tart cherry and blueberry flavors with astringent minerality developing mid palate into a medium pithy finish, herbal tea tannins linger nicely.

Getting there, needs a good decant, 3+ hrs- time in bottle may help. Black fruited, loads of mineral, some wild gamey notes. Fun, but lacking if I am honest- there is one leg in the old world and another somewhere else, Oregon, I guess. Getting some acetone that eventually blows off. Full body, high acid, high tannin, needs some time, but I dunno what time will do to the wine. Preferred style wise to a Stolpman 2020 estate syrah.

Too tannic for my taste with the fruit hiding behind it. Didn’t really open up over time so I am not sure that time will make a difference.

Short decant. Hearty red fruit with floral nuts. Bold Syrah for an Oregon wine. Lots of fruit with a hint of spice and earth. Still has many years left in the bottle.

Willamette Valley Trip - June 2018; 6/8/2018-6/11/2018 : Cristom says they are one of only five wineries making Syrah in Oregon. This has good depth, with a nice dark color. Whole cluster fermentation. Not overly ripe fruit, a N. Rhone style and very good.

This is probably past it's prime. Still very strong pepper notes, but not well balanced with a bit of acid on the finish and a light mouth feel.

Loads of pepper, considerable acidity, lean and elegant fruit. Affordable Northern Rhonish. Great, great wine with remarkable personality.

Very nice wine. Decanted for 1 hour. As others commented lots of pepper with rich black fruit, spice and cured meat. It also had a nice CdR earthy finesse to finish that was very pleasing.

This is by far the most pe-, pe-, peppery-driven new world Syrah, I have come across. Wonderful with Steack au Poivre! I prefer it served just under room temperature to neutralise the alcohol (14%).

This was a very smooth wine right out of the bottle. It is at 14% alcohol which you could taste but it didn't detract from the fruit in this wine. Dark fruits on the front end, lots of white pepper on the back end. There wasn't a super long finish but it was a great wine all around.

Was expecting to love this based on their Pinots. Unfortunately this was a laser beam of acid and citrus. Nice meaty Syrah notes as well, but had a hard time with texture of this.

Enjoyed out of a magnum recently at the February tasting of the Hickory Wine Club. Big, full bodied, dark ruby, fruit forward yet very smooth, definitely recommend this. Nose aromatic with black pepper, blueberry and raspberry. Primary flavors overall consisted with a cooler climate syrah, well balanced black pepper, currant, blackberry, dark stone fruit and with some gaminess. Still has a young feel to it, would benefit from an additional 2-3 years of cellaring.

Deep violet color, 95% saturated and light sediment. Twice through a venturi but still no bouquet. After about 30 minutes in the glass, it showed up in the form of black licorice, cumin, cilantro, tea, red berry, and earth. Medium body, big acidity, and solid tannins through the finish. It is very CdR- like, but with something unique in the earth profile/terroir. Even at 14%, not the ripest of fruit and I think I would prefer a different oak treatment …

PnP (consumed over 3 nights). Dark reddish violet. Nose has rich dark cherry with loads of black pepper over stems and iodine. Meidum+ fruit intensity with good tannic structure (medium intesity) and acidity. Pepper carries through to the palate in a large way. While there is some complexity (pepper, stems, iodine, earth) it comes across a bit clumsily without finesse. Overall a nice midweek wine that was pleasant with pasta/italian sausage.

Blueberry smoked meat and white pepper on the nose. Lots of vanilla on the pallet with medium to long length on the finish. Enough tannins to last for years. Very enjoyable.

This is a weak note but I want to get me brief impression down before I taste my next bottle. The nose is odd. I cant peg it. It seems like an extremely cool climate syrah that didn't get quite ripe. DAWGS March 2008 - New vs Old World Rhones (WineWave's house in McKinney, TX) : WIML89 Tasted March 8, 2008. Opened and served immediately. Purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of black licorice, band aids and berries. Flavors of black cherries, berries and a hint of currant. Medium to vibrant acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium body. Drink or hold.
