Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Flowers and light red cherry fruit bursting from the glass. Light and almost elegant palate, especially for a Chateauneuf. The red fruit is accompanied by thyme, lavender and white pepper notes. The fruit is lively, en danseuse. Great wine to come. Happy to drink a young Charvin after my visit with Laurent today.

I like this wine a lot, grenache and syrah, approachable, served cooled in Sensory Conterno ( cooled too) pure bliss, but needs more time 5 years at least, be patience.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2021 pours a deep ruby color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with fabulous, bright notes of Bing cherry, strawberry, star anis, red flowers, black pepper, cool spices, and stoney earth. Super interesting for the region. It's lighter in style, less dense and roasted, less typical. The fruit is still dark, though. Medium bodied.

Bright red color. On nose, garrigue, raspberry, dark cherry and glycerin notes. On palate, same + sweet cherry. Medium body, medium acidity, low tannins and long, fine finish. 92+ Still young. Should improve score with 3-5 years of bottle age although drank fine now. Would buy again.

Fantastic Chateauneuf, this is so elegant and fresh for the appellation, but then it doesn't lack structure, weight and complexity, it is quite serious, and will improve for many years. Aromas of cherry syrup and distillate, Chambord, sweet blueberry, thyme, touches of figs, black licorice, roses and lavender, peppery spices, a whisper of charred beef, this is kaleidoscopic on the nose... I really liked this. I guess I will have to add Charvin to the short list of Chateauneuf I can actually drink. This scratched the itch for something robust without being fat or rustic. Feels pretty polished in fact though the wall of tannins emerges the next day. It's got a pretty lavender scent.

PNP. This one bursts with vibrant fruits: black raspberry, black currant, and strawberry. An amazing bouquet drifts through—orange blossom, lavender, and linden—enveloping you like a sweet memory. Full-bodied, it stretches out with a nice long finish, bringing tobacco, pepper, chocolate, cloves, smoke, and vanilla in a glorious parade of flavors. I’ll be getting this one again, no doubt. Paired it with Boudin Noir, poached Fiji apples, potato puree, and beurre noisette at Bouchon Bistro in Coral Gables. Strong recommend.

Huge nose of salty cherries and hint of licorice... Nice red crisp fruit, salty cherries, cold vintage but enough ripeness to make it very attractive, BRAVO!!
