Started coming together after an hour. I think this would do better with at least 1-2 hour decant. Classic blend with good integration. Quiet nose.

Dark blackish purple red in appearance with thin watery rim. The nose is of black and dark red fruits, with a slight visceral funk (which makes this quite interesting) and pronounced impressions of earthy minerals. The palate is medium bodied, very well-balanced with good intensity and plenty of structure along with a very smooth and silky mouthfeel. The flavor components is of dark red and black fruits, with some meaty and bloody overtones, very moderate touch of oak, hints of …

On day of opening was rather nice and good with steak after about an hour decant. Actually enjoyed it even more on day 2 - what a treat with glazes spare ribs! Wish I had more than just the 1 bottle....

A year and 7 months after the first one was consumed, the sister bottle went down tonight. A better experience than the last bottle, but then again I gave the last bottle a 91....I would probably rate this one 92.499 tonight. This is really a well made wine. I just don't see how one could rate this one sub-90 unless they consumed it way too young, had an off-bottle, or had secondary gain. The amount of fig, clove, and blackberry …

Lacked the swack of front-end fruit that beguiled on most of the other reds in the line-up, but the richer savoury and earth character on the mid-palate made it by far the best food match, at least to those of us who care about such things. Very good.

Anwilka and Klein Constantia tasting with Matt Day (Dulwich Wine Society) : Dark ruby with a purple rim. Rich savoury nose with violets and some aromatic wood. Rich savoury palate very well balanced with no alcohol burn and very well integrated tannins. Long finish Not a blockbuster style, very elegant. Soft and beautiful

Enjoyable but a tad too spicy and oaky for my taste. The sandalwood note really came through on this (not to my liking) but I think this is worth a try for ~$25.

Nose: Deep, red fruits like dark cherries, dark cranberries, dark earth with some leather, bare oak, soft spice and some heat. Palate: Dark red fruits, dark earth, bitter minerality, same oak (but more of it) soft spice. Dark Ruby with a tinge of purple. Dry with medium amounts of firm, grippy tannins. Medium-plus body with medium acidity (but is well hidden). Decent finish of about 5-6 seconds. Initially very oaky and has a good amount of heat. Those two overpowered …

All those centuries of history show. This winery was established in 1685. And you can taste it. Super well integrated tannins, no excess oak at all. The fruit is present, but not offensive. Something complex, like sandalwood. Really long velvety finish. A winner.

Winebar [4 Whites, 8 Reds, & 2 *shared,* VERY impressive bottles] from 11/02/18 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA) : 44% C.S., 29% Shiraz, 15% Malbec, & 12% Petit Verdot; "Each parcel is carefully identified and blocks are split into multiple portions in order to harvest at the perfect ripeness. This wine is somewhat peculiar for a South African wine, it does have a lot of similarities to others. This wine has a lot of blackberry and black cherry influence, yet also maintaining the clove type of notes that I have come to find in a lot of these wines. This wine pour is rather dark into the glass, with a nose of floral perfume and blank teary. The palate is mostly dominated by black cherry, but enough clove enters …
