Drappier, Millesime Exception

good yeast on the nose, shows lemon and mineral in a dry and strait-forward style, this is good because it was on sale, however it drinks similar to the NV Brut, which I really like

This was good, but not worth the $60 price tag. As this is the 2003, it is actually labelled "millesime canicule," denoting the heatwave of that year, and as might be expected it was rounder and fruitier than other vintages. This roundness, however, seemed to mask the development of other more interesting notes. It was improving with air, and my last sips (about an hour after opening) were the best, but this isn't a great value in bubbly.
