At ten years of age, this one shines. It really does. This is the type of a wine the cab lovers are actually longing for. Has the tannins, but what is more, has that magical Rioja cellar bouquet. Noticeable smell of wet sock (or as my wife said grandmother�s armoire). Generally I don�t worry much in the smell but this one wasn�t nice. On the mouth was nice, typical red berry and oak. Overall not a good example if this usually reliable wine.

Ripe cherries with new leather, toasted vanilla oak and star anise on the nose. Palate is more spicy than the nose suggests. Good depth and density on the medium to full-bodied structure. Fresh and lively. Rich and penetrating at the same time. Some chalky tannins in the finish. Decant for an hour for a smoother and balanced experience. Will continue to develop for the next 3 years.

I let it breathe in decanter for 3 hours and wine was supple, nicely developed and at or very near peak. The QPR here is fantastic and you'll be justly rewarded IF you cellar this wine and then decant well in advance.

I've entered notes on some of the bottles of this we've consumed, but after letting last night's bottle breathe 3-4 hours, this really is at peak and was excellent. Musty cellar notes among the fruit. Good food match, not so much to drink by itself.

Year after year of good vintages (they skip some years), this is one of the best bargains for great European (in this case Spanish red wine). They don't release the bottles until after oak aging and additional bottle aging (California are you listening?) so that you get a bottle that is ready to drink now or in a year or two. PnP, but better after 15 - 20 minutes of slo-ox to allow the funk to blow off and the wine to open. Nice nose of cedar, red fruit, and a touch of floral. The medium bodied palate showed the red fruits (cherry and raspberry), along with wood notes, and touches of mineral, chocolate, and earth. Good aroma of dark berry, but very disjointed and caustic on the palate. The acid and tannin were mildly bitter and overwhelmed the age and fruit characteristics. Have enjoyed many of bottle from this producer, so perhaps chalk this up to a bad bottle.

Okay vanilla dark red fruits some remaining mid-grained tannins present. Structures enough for steak, but lean enough for pasta. Versatile and a strong value. Nice.
