Peaked at 93 almost exactly a year ago? The notes are still the same, but the overall picture is now tinged with a bit of age - nice if you like it. I don't dislike it per se, but I do find it a bit distracting from the wildly fabulous picture of last year. Nonetheless, still very very good. 1 bottle to go! And oh yes, still better with 45 minutes of air on it.

Something about this Rincon chardonnay makes it more than the sum of its parts. It's a very, very good Rincon chardonnay. It's not overtly fruity, and it's not overtly showy with an extravagent nose, but the fruit is good (and dark and minerally and slightly tropical) and the nose is very good, and the mouth, well, the feel in the mouth is of pure, lit liquid that just makes it come together. Interesting wine; light gold colour; slightly vegetal nose with asparagus and cooked peppers but bolstered by peaches, honey and a very slight floral quality. Well balanced and interesting. Somewhere midway between California fruity opulance and Burgundy vegetal austerity. Certainly not the best I've had but very interesting and enjoyable...what more can you really ask for.

Well, I don't know about opinions being "locked in," as it seems that this bottling is getting better with each passing month. Chalkier, stonier, nosier, longer. More orange fruit in the background. I find this wine to be so full that the oak is undetectable, though I think that the texture belies its existence. Perhaps 4 years of age is right for this bottling, though this one shows no sign of degradation.

Seems to have come out of its shell in 4 months. Amazing? Coincidence? Bottle variation? Full throttled here - big nose of dark white tropical fruit; intense, riviting mouth that gripped my mouth; length is nice for a bit, then clipped. Not a spectacular bottle of "wine", but right now, it shows quite well, especially for its pedigree. And, it's very, very easy to drink.

Tanish golden color. My note from 9 months ago mentioned alcohol but that seems to have resolved. Still a full bodied bold chardonnay, with ripe apples and pineapples offsetting vanilla toasty oak. Full and lush, not crisp. Matched with the right food.....

Somewhat reticent nose, slightly oaky, orange fruit that could be better for this bottling. Length is the best part of the wine - citric, focused, and interesting - saves the wine from being just average. Quite a difference between this wine and the Rosemary's.

Darker yellow with full nose showing a touch of the 14.5% alcohol. Plenty of toasty oak but well balanced with a solid core of ripe apples and pears for balance. Long full finish. Not a laid back wine.

Beautiful aromas spill into luscious flavanoids that usher abundant complexities that ring out loud. I savor the segue from aroma to palate. Succulent vanilla toast and tropicals with a mild acid disposition. I really like the aroma to flavor transition. This is a classic specimen for balance. Beautiful!

2005 Chardonnay's; 1/1/2007-12/31/2008 : Unlike the 2005 Rosemary's wine, this bottling is rather unfocused - good, but a bit on the shelly, mushy side. There's ample amounts of crushed, chalky stone and ripe white fruit in the mouth, a decent, rather unfocused nose. The length is minerally, if a bit on the short side for this wine. Seems like the other side of the coin from the Rosemary's bottling.
