Another solid 04 with earth, spice, cherry, oak, stone and rose petals. Complex and medium plus finish. Very nice value.

CB: 91. Poped and poured. Amazing nose, perfectly balanced palate, super enjoyable. JR: 91. Had a good finish, seemed to miss a little on the middle palate but I thought it was great. Not drank with a meal…had with cheese chips.

Really interesting wine. Decanted for 2 hours. Aroma of black fruit, coffee, and tobacco. Medium to full body. Flavors of black plum and prune, undergirded by herb and black pepper. Hints of charcoal and smoke, which is actually much more pleasant than it sounds! Good tannic structure and complexity, with a medium to long finish. Unique and provocative. 92- 93.

Pnp, drank over 3 hours. Tasty sweet fruit, though not too sweet or big. Medium weight, nice balance of fruit and earth/minerals. Enjoy now.

Opens after about 1 hour decant (Jan 2018). Flavors of cherry and pomegranate, with bitter tannins and definitely some heat from the 15.4%.

Good California Cab for the price. Heavy oak, smooth, fruit forward. It has aged well and the balance is nice with an interesting mix of blue fruit at the beginning and more red, warm tones in the finish. Simple in complexity but a very good wine and an excellent QPR.

Very dark purple red violet color; roasted red fruit, tart raspberry, tart red currant nose; tart red currant palate with balancing acidity; medium-plus finish (Cabernet Sauvignon 85%, Malbec 10%, Petite Sirah 2.5%, Petite Verdot 2.5%; 14.6% alcohol; 18 months in oak)

Tannins indicate this wine could age well, but very delicious and drinkable now.

Well balanced, soft cab. Drank with Italian and it was a good pairing. Red fruit on the nose and palate. Feels like a warm region wine, but not overripe. Relatively simple finish.

A heavy, monster of a bottle, this was opened and decanted one hour prior to pairing with grass-fed Angus NY Strip steak, pan-fried. A very dark purple in the glass, nearly staining the glass. The nose again features blackberry, black currant, dark chocolate and very light touches of cedar and vanilla. The palate follows in step, except that there is bitter dark chocolate and a vanilla-tinged finish. Many will like this a lot, but I prefer at least some red …

well, well. humbled a bit here based on my previous notes thinking this would be way worse. Starts off rich with forward chocolate and cedar. Settles down a bit to add cassis and herb. But the tannins are seriously dry and still a touch bitter on the finish. Plenty of structure. I think this has evolved in a good way, better than what I thought at least. I was right it needs more time, maybe 3-4 years. upgraded from good, …

Slow ox'ed for a couple of hours. Another bottle not showing well. The once rich and delicious fruit is now in the background. Not much in the way of tertiary notes to pick up the slack. Messy mid palate. Could be in an evolutioany ebb, though I won't be holding bottles to find out. Officially this gets a "Meh" today.

Decent, pleasant wine but nothing special. After it had been open an hour or so, the alcohol started to come to the forefront. This is better than before, but probably as good as it's going to get. This would have been a good wine if the alcohol would not have been such a prominent component of its profile. Plenty of fruit and adequate tannins.

Much preferred these in their youth. Though the fruit is not fading as of yet, alcohol and acid are to the fore. Based on this one bottle I'd say a good weekday drinker, and not a strong buy. But, I have enjoyed previous bottles and I still have a couple in cellar so we shall see. Shooting from the hip I'd say 82-84 today

Opened and drank over 3 night, vacuuming after each tasting. Day 1 - youthful and rambunctious, a little awkward and nervous though. Good, solid, workman like cab with good acidity. Needs air. Day 2 - Much more balanced. Still has good fruit and decent structure but starting to get a bit squishy around the edges. Probably heading in the wrong direction by this time but fractionally better than day 1. Day 3 - This passed away quietly sometime in the …

Opened 30 minutes then paired with grilled lamb chops. Sweet black fruits with some well integrated toasted oak. A bit simple but doesn't pretend to be more. Provided a nice foil to the '05 Reignac served alongside. Unspectacular, but did its job. Solid cab for the money.

This wine left a good first impression and showed a little better than expected. This was a classic Napa cab (not classic quality but classic profile) and therefore not distinctive but pleasantly integrated, balanced and nuanced. Not overdone on fruit or oak but enough to keep it interesting.

Decanted 1hr. Gone is the "blackberry pie ala mode" exuberance from its youth. Replaced at this point with some balance and manners. Well rounded weekday drinker with good build quality, decent depth, and good acidity. Actually, nice wine... the "weekday drinker" thing may be underselling it a bit.

This was weird to me. Lots of evergreen, menthol, spicy mint. Some pruney fruit. Moderate tannin and mild heat. The next day watermelon kirsch came out that was a beautiful nose. The wine however, had completely lost its midpalate and finish. Great nose, however.

Maybe it just needed time to evolve, but this bottle was delightful for a change, compared to prior bottles. Tannins were integrated, fruit was well developed, flavors of dark berries, prunes, cassis. An above average table wine, and good QPR at $19. Still have two bottles left, the payoff might be in the future!

Lots of bottle variation going on here. Unlike last couple of bottles, this showed fine integrated tannins but with a lower fruit character. Good with steak but seemed to lack a bit of material.

What the...? Rough, tannins seem a bit green. Firm. Leaning towards astringent. Maybe it's going thru a phase, though the bottle I had a few weeks ago was a bit awkward but nothing like this. Hope storage hasn't been an issue as I've got 10 more bottles. 82 for this bottle though flaw seems the more appropriate response

This was a "pull cork in case of emergency" bottle as a last minute replacement for a flawed Bordeaux. Splash decanted and served with grilled filet with sauteed mushrooms in caramel bourbon sauce - saved the day. Somewhat tight and primary with juicy fruit forward blueberries & blackberries. Med+/full body with decent acidity and soft, though somewhat stalky tannins. Still a bit disjointed, though the tannins are softening. This seems to be just starting to round into form - in …

Nice nose of dark fruits and some floral. Popped and poured, very tannic, overwhelmed the fruit. Decanted an hour. Although the tannins softened a bit, still tight, but enjoyed some really nice, hearty dark fruit, almost chewy, spicy. But this seems to be a simplistic wine, nothing complex, nothing layered. Remained tight after a couple of hours. Not sure where this is going, but still a good wine for bbq, meat casseroles, etc. Might just need more time in the …

Decanted for 1 hr. Tannins dominated a bit initially but receeded after thirty minutes of air time. Great blackberry and black cherry fruit character. Good structure with decent acidity. Paired quite well with the flank steak and polenta. Not showing much complexity - will benefit from another couple of years in cellar. Very good wine now with room for growth. Decant, decant, decant! This was better and has more potential than the '05 Whitehall lane Reserve cab we had a …

Drier then most, too dry for my wife, fruit a bit of that "candied" taste that makes me think of vanilla which tends to ruin it for me. Luna also prices this way too high for the value, there's just too many better wines for less money out there.

I agree with Jaxpaj....this wine screams to be consumed with a hearty steak or lamb chops. We enjoyed this as our opening bottle on Easter Sunday before the ham. Basically consumed by itself after a 2 hour decant. Nice curant and black fruit...similar in style to Altamura. Oak was not overpowering as some have indicated. Nice mid range cab. I have a couple more bottles and will write a follow up after the next pop.

Wine Spectator Grand Tasting (Marriott Hotel, San Francisco, CA) : Big red. Complex aromas/flavors of currant, blackberry, spice, licorice and cedar. Big tannins that are a little rough now, but should mellow with age. All the elements are there for a great cab, just a little young and unbalanced now.
