it was a decent wine, but faded quickly. upon opening I enjoyed the nose very much and less so on the palette, but that flipped after about 45 minutes the other way. was initially getting 'chocolate covered cherry' and later on some french oak and soft vanilla. palette had good acidity, but wasn't as round/smooth as i would have liked. had it side by side with a 2022 domaine de la cote from cali

Same elegant fruit and structure as the bottle in August, but it didn’t close down as much this time. Delicious stuff, and it’s best days are still ahead.

PnP, lots of red fruit and silky tannins. I think this is my first 2016 Bouley and it is fantastic. It might still improve too. More notes to follow. Checked in after two hours open (I have never had the courage to decant red Burgundy) this closed down and gained more structure. It was still very good, but it brought the most pleasure during the first half hour. Obviously this wine has plenty of life left.

Red roses, cranberry, cherry and Stoney minerals, palate is elegant and smooth with a great fresh feeling texture, grainy gripping tannin on the finish
