Last bottle of 12, purchased 12/2009, bottle has not moved until tonight. Decanted with some thick gooey sediment, last tasted 12/2009, this bottle is certainly on the backside, still some dark fruit, some syrupy notes, a bit one dimensional and some astringency on the finish, still drinkable but based on this bottle I would consume sooner than later.

Had this blind, for what it is it is very good. It carries its high alcohol well, still looots of tannins, good acidity, not overripe.

Lots going on here. Secondary characters lead the way out of the bottle as there was a big nose of coconut and vanilla up front. Only apparently 25% American oak but maybe more of the American oak was new as I'm not usually good at picking French vs American oak but this was quite a strong coconut note. The fruit opened up with time, as about an hour later the fruit was more dominant. Tart plum, blackberry, cherry liqueur, and …

(17/20) Rich and bold Shiraz, but with a certain elegance. Ripe style, concentrated, layered wine. From vines planted in 1899 and 1965, aged in French oak barrels for 15 months (25% new). Medium intense aromas of blackberry, blueberry, cranberry, black plum, balsamic, vanilla, toast, clove, roast beef, smoke, bay leaf, green pepper. Dry wine, medium acidity, medium and fine-grained tannins, full body, pronounced flavours, long finish. 14,5% ABV - €35 @ Teams tasting by Linda Docters van Leeuwen

Pop and pour. I went into this wine with open mind, hoping for the best. This seemed fruity, straightforward and simple. Nothing special, inoffensive and at least it wasn't sweet or jammy.

Deep ruby in the glass. For some reason, Kaesler has a big issue with controlling the alcohol levels in his wines. Every single Shiraz I've tried has been slammin' hot both on the nose and on the palate. This one did have a bit more elegance to it, but was still structurally out of balance. Overripe and overdone.

Masterclass - Wines of the Barossa (Zoom) : Deep purplish ruby, viscous and with high extraction. Aromas of blackberry, mint, pepper, cinnamon, coffee grounds, tar, and a rather vinous sense. Tannins biting, full-bodied, peppery flavours, and some ripe blackberry and cherry, as well as coffee and cocoa, mint, and a bit of caramel at the back. Lengthy finish of mint chocolate and tar. Nice!

OK I found it reasonable but lacking character. Think a few more years in the cellar perhaps

As expected, huge amounts of blackberry, blueberry, very smooth, on the back side of its prime drinking window, low complexity.

Barossa be consumed (Carriageworks, Redfern) : Blackberry joins toast and cedar and sweet spice and a little baked earth. Tightly tannic with blackberry fruit, needs time.

What a strange wine. I have had this open for 4 days hoping something more interesting would emerge with no results. Spices, water, celery and roasted nuts. Very thin wine with a palate that is forgettable. One of the worst Aussie wines I have ever tasted. The interesting thing about this vintage was I tasted the 2012 Kaesler Avignon in February and this wine was a rock star and the wines were sourced from the same shop. Done the road …

On the nose there are aromas of ripe black fruit and spices. The palate also shows very ripe, rich fruit and smooth tannins. It is a little bit porty and has quite a spirity finish. There is plenty of appeal here for those that enjoy a powerhouse red, but it didn't excite my palate.

I have had more body out of a pinot. Whilst drinkable it is extremely light with minmal length and none of the normal shiraz spice. Nice hints of vanilla buts that the best I can say. Maybe it should be relabeled.

A little dissapointing for a $40 wine. A lighter style of shiraz, some pepper, a bit tart, somewhat thin and a pleasing finish although overall lacked balance.

Tät, violett/rosa ytterkant, röd inre kant, blåstick. Nyanserad doft, pepparmynta, anomalistisk, pepparmynta, björnbär, fruktigt, syltig doft, viol, mycket choklad. Nyanserad och fruktig smak men hög syra, mycket fat, peppar, medium sträv, lite tanniner, mycket alkoholhetta, lite sluten eftersmak. Doftade mycket gott, alkoholen tar dock nästan över lite av smaken, bör lagras, och absolut luftas.

Inky, rich, and tasty. A wine at the peak of its youthful juicy expression. Not sure how it will evolve from here. Blueberry and blackberry notes along with some menthol/juniper character. Lively nose followed by sleek, modestly oaky palate with big flavors. This is ultra ripe Shiraz, not given to the gamey, peppery, herbal expression encountered in N Rhone or cool coastal California editions. Reminds me of late harvest zinfandel within an elegant frame. Very old vines responsible for concentration. …

Decanted for 1 hour. It was hot and brooding at first with lots of big red Aussie Shiraz fruit character. After some time it chilled out. The nose was never exceptional - average at best. The palate however was a good balance of tannins fruit and complexities. Not for your average Shiraz connoisseur. It is almost balanced but the oak influence doesn't fit with the fruit. It's too hot over All And the finish doesn't go on long enough to …

Umeå brown bag March (Umeå, Sweden) : Blind. Decanted. Blackish purple. An impressive 16% Et-OH does not disturb this fiendish expression of Shiraz. Wow! In the mouth this is more like chewing than drinking. Punschpraliner. Young, tannic, superbly balanced, rich and extremely promising. My guess went to a high-class modern-styled Chateauneuf-du-Pape. My WOTN. Will need to buy some for my own.

Dark purple color with rich, full-bodied, with flavors of ripe plum, blackberries, cola and spice accompanying the long finish. Good stuff but doesn't edge out the 2005 in terms of flamboyance. However, it does excel in terms of balance, acidity, and integration of flavors. Though fairly more straightforward than the 2005, I wouldn't necessarily consider it a bad thing. Drink now until 2016.

A big, bold, no holds barred ultra-ripe Barossa shiraz. This has a black/dark purple inky colour which is still youthful in appearance. Aromas of sweet baked blueberries, blackberries, vanilla oak, spice cake and alcohol jump from the glass. Plenty of concentration on the palate which wants to be smooth and round, but is a little angular. Not sure how this will develop from here. Although I can see some merit in this wine (i.e. it is a pretty good example …

Decanted for 1hr, this has settled down nicely. rich jammy nose of blackberry and vanilla. Jammy black fruit on the palate, with hints of pepper and chocolate. Some heat still present and a little soft on the mid palate, but intergration of these componet's should be in its future.90+

Decanted for 3hrs, a beast, massive beyond belief, intense, thick, concentrated, rich, alcoholic, jammy, disjointed, over the top but everything is their. Just needs time to come together and intergrate. This will never be a food wine, well maybe wild game or very strong blue cheese, better serve after dinner. Give this beast at least 5 years and see what happens and hope for the best. 85-95 pts. ??

Heavy stuff but disjointed and a disappointment. Surprised by the jarry taste and lack of depth. Compared to a recent 2005 a midget but I hope time will help even if i have serious doubts and it will take at lesat 2-3 years before I try the next...
