Restaurant Purchase, no notes. A Burgundian interpretation of BF, lean and elegant, with many years left. 93+.

Short note: this Blaufränkisch is absolutely amazing. 2017 was a Bad year in the Burgenland but Uwe Schiefer absolutly delivered! Strong Blackberry notes, super juicy, peppery finish, so juicy, so complex! Great!

Gorgeous Blaufränkisch. Intense raspberries, amarena cherries and a slight touch of white pepper. Perfect pirate in a highend St. Joseph or Côte Rôtie tasting. On the palate very young, medium to full bodied and with a long aftertaste. Overall quite balanced with a great future ahead.

Glass: Zalto Bordeaux Popped and poured. Was so interested to see, if this is really 20/20. But, no, it wasn't for me. Nevertheless one of the best Blaufränkisch I have drunk so far. Beautiful clean, dense and deep nose with clean fruit and fresh herbs. On the palate beautiful structure, wonderful fruit, nice herbaceous touch. Lively acidity gives it nice tension and energy. Very good length. 94-95

From 0.375 bottle. Very similar to my last bottle but starting to open up a little bit with some more air. Nicely aromatic, complex, fresh and layered, this will have a long life ahead. Excellent Blaufränkisch from this great producer.

Schiefer Reihburg-Vertikale 2024 mit Uwe Schiefer 23.2.2024, Austria (Burgenland, Austria) : Purple red color, very dense. No signs of ageing. Regarding the notes here on CT, the wine might be in a dumb phase. The nose is shy, with dark berries and a little bit of wood. Same on the palate. It promises much, but it's not the best time to open a bottle at the moment IMHO. 2011 should be a great vintage in a few years, so: wait! …

Schiefer Reihburg-Vertikale 2024 mit Uwe Schiefer 23.2.2024, Austria (Burgenland, Austria) : Purple red color, no signs of ageing. On the nose there are red fruits paired with some tertiary notes of wet earth and wood. Same on the mid-weight-palate - there is also some salty minerality. At the beginning of its drinking window! Ends very long. Promise for the future. 93+

Schiefer Reihburg-Vertikale 2024 mit Uwe Schiefer 23.2.2024, Austria (Burgenland, Austria) : 2017 is a beautiful vintage for Burgenland and for Blaufränkisch grapes and this bottle is an evidence therefor. Showing very young, the nose opens after 6 hours of slow-ox. Oak is still present and will certainly integrate over the next years. Beautiful aromas of flowers and herbs on the nose, red berries in the foreground. The same on the palate. Salty minerality, long end. Beautiful wine at this stage …

From 0.375 bottle. Still a litlle closed, but startint to open up a little with some more air. Notes of sweet and sour cherries, black fruit, some dark chocolate, some herbal notes, salty minerality, graphite, also some tobacco leaf. It‘s medium-full bodied, with excellent persistence, it has high acidity, also some medium+ tannin that is very good quality. Long finish with plenty of tension. A really nice, complex and excellent Blaufränkisch that will still need a few years to show …

Excellent Reihburg with a bouquet of some cassis, cherries, bacon and chalky, iron notes. It's at a good spot right now and fully ripe, medium to full-bodied with a good length and precise structure. Will stay at this level for at least another decade or more.

This bottle sang right after popping. Smooth , round but with enough backbone and little edges to combine a real good austrian red.Minty flavours and a good finish. Yum yum

Dark ruby and deep purple colored. Intense nose with lots of dark berry notes, dark chocolate and some mint. Very savory on the palate with blackberries, blueberries, dried herbs, black pepper and some fresh mineral notes. Full bodied with a soft but fresh acidity. Silky tannins, beautifully integrated. Amazing complexity and an incredible elegant balance - everything fits in perfectly. Great depth without being too complicate. Incredible long finish - goes on forever. One of the best Austrian red wines …

This is a great austrian red ! Overwhelming herbacious nose. Big body. Very fresh. Not blind and would have thought Hermitage ! Juicy. Gave it 4 h of decanting and it was still on the younger side. Many years left. Room for improvement ! 95 +

Fragrant nose, so much to detect here: Dark currants, warm spices, juniper and notes of soil and iron. Though concentrated and densely structured the wine is quite supple, well balanced and lifted by vibrant acidity.
