Coursey Graves Syrah West Slope

This has certainly smoothed out and gained some character and complexity since my last bottle a year ago. Fruit has emerged a bit more, but still integrated into the savory, dark purple colored Syrah. Rustic on one hand, but also a bit refined as it seems to be a juxtaposition of style in the same glass. It is a cold winter night and this was the perfect pairing with the roaring fire in the fireplace.

A bit reticent and closed upon opening. Muted aromas of saline and loam. Fruit was subdued. Became more accessible as it opened up in the glass. Very old world character. Flavor profile continued to present earth. I think this one would be better paired with a meal of prime rib or Beef Bourguignon to complement and enhance each other. I have one more of these left and look to revisit much later in its lifespan.
