Cabernet and Petit Verdot This tastes slightly old. Very Tuscan in profile, would have guessed Sangiovese. Big structure, great blackberry fruit. Leather and cedar notes, along with some spice. Medium plus body, good length, some complexity. Drink now, don't wait.

A very dark colour; very concentrated, rich, dark fruits (blackberry, black cherry), vigorous, with quite a thick texture and some volcanic smokiness. A long finish. Very fine now and will keep for many years.

This wine continues to age beautifully. Decanted 1.5 hrs. Highly concentrated dark fruit with notes of black raspberry, fig, graphite, and spice. Great balance and velvety mouthfeel. Tannins are soft and well integrated with long satisfying finish.

Similar observations to Papies’ below. Bretty nose, dark, earthy, herbal, brooding and tight. On the palate tannic and somewhat unyielding, dark fruit notes, herbal, mineral, layered, very long, but not very elegant. Drink or keep. 91-93

I opened my second and last bottle of this tonight, and it was a polished super tuscan in early maturity that still has a fair amount of dark primary fruit and the nose starting to reveal some tertiary notes like balsam. This is interesting, because the other bottle from this vintage I opened just about two months ago, and it was far into its aging process and had a lot of almost 'hot' volatile notes coming off in the glass. …

Has a bit of a funky/rustic nose at this stage and we feel it needs time to shed that off. In an in between stage of its life, soft earthy and herby but also a bit out of place and lacks the elegance of both younger and older bottles and thus we suggest one let’s this age more. 90-91 for now but we have hope for it

Tuscany WIMPS 2023 (La Trompette) : Firstly i'd say the drinking range on CT stopping at 2023 is wrong - this can age a lot more. Beautiful nose of dark fruit and modest oak spice. Palate consistent with the nose with deep dark fruit, some toastiness (but not sweetness) and good acidity. Good balance and improved with air.

Hardly any discolouration. Got better and better with time in the decanter as the evening went on. Ripe red and black fruit, notes of exotic spices, coffee, herbs, floral notes. Lots of generous fruit on the palate as well, ripe tannins, nice acidity towards the persistent finish. The alcohol is well integrated. Drink or keep. 92-94

A very dark colour. The wine has a lot of sediment and a deep, rich, spicy flavour, with slightly burnt fruit and a somewhat earthy texture. It also has good acidity and should keep well and continue to develop. Excellent stuff.

Annual Pilgrimage to Piedmont - 2022 Edition; 10/14/2022-10/16/2022 (Piedmont, Italy) : Young but well mannered, proper super Tuscan feel here, good ripeness , good use of oak and very much a big wine without being heavy. Well made and silky and we felt that albeit very solid it was still on the young side and a touch one dimensional given the fruit was still at the forefront and needs time. We like this wine a lot in general and just …

Terrific wine drinking at peak maturity, IMO. I've followed this over the years and decided to open my final bottle now, on the belief it won't improve with even more age. It greatly outshined the top bottlings of two expensive Napa producers on this evening. I'm a giant fan of this wine and consider it one of the world's very best Bordeaux blends at the $150 price point.

This is outstanding this evening. Tertiary notes in bloom, acidity still there and enough tannin to clear the palate. Everything in balance. Served blind and the consensus was a 1990s first growth BDX. Truly delish with excellent balance and interesting layers. I got everything from balsamic to strawberries to cherries and leather and herbs from this. Served at 55 with a slow braised bavette with red lentils and leeks. This punches way above its price point! I think this has …

Of the cab blends I've enjoyed, this might be my favorite costing < $125 produced in the last 15 years. First time I tried it 3 years ago, I was blown away. Tonight's bottle was even better. Drinking perfectly in its maturity window. Highest recommendation.

Very enjoyable sans food. Quite full bodied and manifestly a young wine in terms of its drinking window. I’m always impressed by their wines. Not to resort to comparing Italian Super Tuscans to Bordeaux, as I think the peer group is broad enough to avoid this, but you’d be hard pressed to find fault if you had this alongside a majority of classed growths ..... In fact, it embraces its structure in a way that’s reassuring - a big wine …

approachable now with 2 hours decanting, but honestly this can only get better with time, very dark color, intense aromatics come out with time, fruit a tad forward probably due to the hear in the vintage, a pinch of bret, but overall a very pretty wine that will benefit from cellaring

A really good wine, hard to imagine anyone not liking this. Deep dark core of black berries, mint, iron, campher, super balanced, super long and super structured. Clearly improved on day 2. Hope this will gain a litlle more complexity over the years - right now it is too expensive for what you get.

Chianti Classico tour 2019 - 2 -Conca D'Oro in Panzano + B a C : Well this CS ( 85% the rest is PV) could easily define focus and purity and precision and is easily the best one I have tasted in the Chianti area. So intense and multilayered yet it is lean and flexible, great job. 3 months in concrete tanks, 12-15 months in tonneaux.

Fabulous wine. Careful not to drink it too warm, as the alcohol will overpower the deliciousness. I don't quite think its the 97 points or so I see somewhere, and I think if it cost $75 vs. $125 I would buy a lot more. Reminded me of the 2013 Tignanello somehow. Like it!

{VinItaly2017} The only of the three tasted today that resonated (at all) with me. That said, while I like it, for what it is, it didn't excite me, didn't speak to me. It's pretty standard fair for a dark-er themed BDX blend, with some pockets of earthy, minerally interest, and pretty perfumes, but today, it didn't offer much to stand out. I like it, but don't see myself every acquiring any for the cellar. Perhaps in the next vintage. 14,5% …
