Beaux Cali cab bien agé. Feuille morte, encore un peu de fruit, pas des plus complexes mais se boit bien.

Maderized. Unlike most of my cellar, I bought this wine long after its release (so no control over provenance). I think this example is 5 years past its peak. If you have any, drink ‘em up.

Always stored at 55 degrees since purchase at the winery this was a terrific absolutely typical well aged Napa cab. Not as round and subtle as a few from this era but overall excellent. I continue to be amazed at how well cabs from the late 70’s and beyond are still if not at peak still drinking exceptionally well with more fruit and balance than comparable Bordeaux.

Dark medium purple with woodsy nose this red offers a distinctive earthy presentation with some dried berries, roasted nuts, leather and spice box. Bitter chocolate streak throughout, ending with espresso bean note on medium finish. Much better in its youth. Dueling Orropas Pairing

What a difference 4 years makes. Opened and poured a nice garnet colored wine with no sign of bricking on the rim. The green streak noted previously has disappeared leaving a nice smooth bottle of wine. The predomininat flavors were black fruit (blackberry, cassis, black currants) a touch of pepper and some pencil lead. The tannins have fallen off, but the wine remained youthful and properly cellared, still has 2-3 years left, perhaps more. A great example of how a …

My last Mag of this wine. Boo hoo! Decanted short term and the fruit was briming right off the bat. Different than the last time i had this same mag about 2 or 3 years ago. Drinking nicely. Cured St Clement Cab. Need I say more.

Opened about 30 minutes before serving but did not decant. Tasted a bit green and tannic initially but then gave way to a rich creamy chocolate, cassis, currants and blackberry flavors. The tannins have dropped off leaving a nice bottle!

Nice older cab. Had a big bouquet of ripe currants, cassis, spice, and oak and flavors consisting of ripe dark fruit, some nice acidity, and fine tannins with a nice finish. I believe it won't be long before the fruit begins to fade so drink it soon.

Drank on birthday with porcini/bleu cheese crusted tenderloin. Opened and decanted for about 3 1/2 hours. Actually coudl have used a bit more, as it really started to open up about an hour into the dinner. Dark amethyst hue throughout. Did not appear to be of the recent overly concentrated style, but still has a wealth of flavor hidden within. On both nose and palate, black PLUM is exploding forth...not those really tart fresh red plums, but that dark, sweet …

Nice aromas of smoke, cassis. Sl green with tannin outweighing fruit at this point. Drink now and with red meat.

Tasting at winery. Good aromatic start with fresh black fruit, a touch of complementary new oak and some cassis hints. Moderate fruit on palate with a straightforward middle and finish. Good for now.

Tasting at winery. Moderate black fruit aromas. Good balance but largely simple fruit flavors on palate. Very and accessible today, moderate length. 62% Cabernet, 25% Cab Franc, 13% Merlot. Hard to find the Cab Franc, which typically stands out in this type of blend.
