Domaine Leflaive Mâcon-Verzé

This wine is advanced in age and showing some early oxidation - not to the point of a flaw, but its advanced age is evident. Creamy mouthfeel with very little acidity. It shows bright yellow with green tinges.

Relativt anonym på duft, men et lite hint av urter som blir med inn i munnen også. Ellers litt melk og fin, fyldig frukt av gule epler og litt grapefrukt. Fin syre skaper spenst i en ellers litt rund innpakking. Lang ettersmak for dette enkle nivå. Super nå.

PnP, chilled, but a bit better after 10 minutes of air. A rather basic Macon Chardonnay. Medium bodied palate showing lots of lemon, a good amount of minerality, some green apple, and a touch of oak wrapped around a zesty acidity. Nowhere near as good as the 2017 Domaine Leflaive Mâcon-Verzé Le Monte that we had back in January.

Developed aromas of butter pastry, ripe pear and touch of honey. On the palate the wine has a refreshing acidity, lean texture, moderate body. Touch of tropical fruit, fresh nuts. Decent length. Elegant, mineral, works well with a platter of cheese.

Exactly like what the last few reviewers have said. After enjoying a 2014 vintage of Domaine Leflaive's Macon-Verze that was really spectacular in 2020, I'm rather shocked that two bottles of 2015 in a row, a year apart from one another, were rather dull, unbalanced and not terribly enjoyable (not even with pan seared sole with a little butter and batter). Glad I don't have these in my cellar anymore. Hoping the 2018 is as good as others have said. …

Appearance: medium lemon. Nose: citrus, lemon curd, white flowers, stone fruits, hint of butter, cream and nougat. A hint of herbs too. Palate: light to medium body, moderate finish, just enough acidity to hold everything together but this has faded a bit. Moderate complexity, not more than a quaffer but on balance disappointing for what I paid for it. Drink up if you've got some.

Smør, litt nøtter, litt sitrus. Frisk i munnen, men uten syra til Boillots 2014 som vi drakk i går. God fylde for nivået. Ganske lang og delikat ettersmak av smør og salt. Deler panelet: Dag foretrekker Boillot, Kristin denne. Men de er ganske like.

Ugh - I had this wine two years ago at a restaurant and actually really liked it. Maybe my taste has changed or the wine has not developed so well. Probably both. It was a sound bottle directly from the UK main importer. Attack of quite high alcohol (14 pct), clumsy oak (felt a bit like wood chip addition), and high bitter extract, unbalanced. Nose of lime, fresh apple peels, some citrus and wet stones. Tasted apples, apple skin bitters, lime, minerals. This is good, easy drinking. You know you can always depend on a Leflaive for a good white and this bottle was no different. Ready to go

Good wine, more in the Chablis camp than the Puligny camp with great cut, citrus and stone notes. Good balance and acidity. Happy to drink this on the terrace in the summer but ultimately it’s too expensive for what it is.

Four Recent Vintages of Leflaive Mâcon Verzé (Dig Wines, San Francisco) : Medium yellow. Riper aromatics. Roundest, most viscous wine of the 4 vintages, light oak, nice minerality. Not too exuberant for a warm vintage wine.

After some warming, this bottle started to ventilate nice aroma. The taste is not one-dimensional though not complicated. Nice entry level wine to induce fantasy of Lefalaive grand cru.

Dinner with Tom and Deb Mortimer of Le Cadeau: A Mix of Le Cadeau and Other Gems (I Nonni, St. Paul, MN) : I almost missed this wine as the food for the reds started coming. Fortunately I did not. Light gold color. Small glass over 20 minutes. Surprising power, Meyer lemon, hints of tangerine, lemon blossoms, bright and good verve. Nice.

I didn't drink much of this but I really enjoyed it. Lots of zip, intensity, concentration and sappy citrus buttressed by excellent minerality. Ignore Macon Verze' in the hands of a great producer and you'll regret it. This drinks well above expectations, for its often overlooked appellation. Thanks Lonny! For less than $50, this is a bargain for the Domaine Leflaive touch. I'm sure the estate is as proud of this as their exalted Pulignys at 4 times the cost.

Soft round, well balanced with good freshness and minerality; not a lot of Southern feel here, rather af Puligny-style Macon, as you could expect from the producer who certainly had a very succesful 2015 vintage. #BistroEt

Intensive üppige Frucht von Reife Birne, Bratapfel, ein hauch eingelegte Kirsche. Am Gaumen zwar mit guter Säurestruktur, die 14% drucken aber doch durch und die Aromen sind im Abgang demgegenüber eher zu kurz. Ein Wein mit einer klaren Idee. Ich wusste zuvor nicht, wie intensiv fruchtig Chardonnay sein kann. BoW 17/20
