Very interesting and distinctive Syrah from the Gramercy MTA collection. Notable vibrant red cherry on the nose and in the mid-palate. Accented with olive tapenade, smoked meats, a hint of tar and lavendar/violets. Substantial acid remains while the tannins have softened and sweetened. A lovely wine that probably isn't going to improve much but should maintain a steady state for a few year.

Excellent Syrah from Gramercy. Raspberry, smoke, tar, spice and tapenade on the nose with a bouquet that developed more character every 20 minutes. More red berry fruit and smoky spiciness, with more olive tapenade, pepper and mocha. Rich and voluptuous. Tannins were fine and sweet. No noticeable WA State funk on this one.

Day 1 seemed flat and lacking fruit. Day 2 not much improvement. Day 3 with spicy green chile verde chicken it was ok and some fruit was detectable. This is not my first time being disappointed by a Washington State Syrah that came across flat and lacked body. Perhaps I’m not understanding the style?

Notes from day 2. Dark red in color. Nose of dark plum, lavender, seared meat, mushrooms. Palate of black plum, rainer cherry, seared meat, brine, mushrooms, pepper. The finish was above average in length, great acidity. Overall the wine really improved between day 1 and tonight, the nose and palate both finally emerged. Hold: 50+5+12+17+7 4
