Bodegas Rodero Ribera del Duero Carmelo Rodero Reserva

Wifey initially pronounced this to be a heavy bugger but I really liked it with pork chops. Heady strawberry mingled with blackberry. Dark, no sign of bricking and I imagine it still has plenty of life in it.

This has matured really nicely. Slightly piney cedar on the nose but the soft red fruit of a Tempranillo on the palate with a hint of spice on the finish. Lovely balance it drank well with beef.

Intense and smoothe.

Huge wine. Blackberries, touch of tobacco, spices. Balanced wine with tannins a bit dominating but this is still a very young wine. Hard to stay away from this one. Should improve even further.

Dark fruits, dark chocolate, vanilla oak.

Deep inky purple, nearly black. A remarkable nose of white pepper, rosemary, mint, mocha and sweet tobacco dance around the glass and keeps you coming back to explore its depth and complexity. A firm structure provides a gripping mouth-feel with waves of dark fruit playing off earthy and chalky undertones that leave you marveling at the quality of this wine. Tannins are currently quite pronounced and linger with a wonderful finish for 30+ seconds. A fantastic wine that will continue …
