Dugat-Py Chambertin: Tasting Every Vintage with Loïc Dugat (Manhatta - New York NY) : Complete 24-vintage vertical directly from the Domaine. All bottles opened approximately two hours before dinner, then decanted 30-60 minutes before being served. Comparing 15/16 might not be quite as fun as 09/10 but it is close. This 2016 is very similar to the 2015 with slightly more energy and elegance, slightly less richness, and seeming closer to hitting full stride.

Huge hit of black / green pepper right off the bat and then slowly subsided to reveal complex dark fruit, moss and forest floor

Very aromatic red fruits and oak on the nose. So much energy on the palate from the bright acidity. Dark raspberries, strawberries, and savory animal notes are fighting to burst through the grape and oak tannins. This will be spectacular when they do. 95+ when it gets there.

94+/100 Damn, I’m totally in love with Dugat-Py, over and over again, and this Gevrey-Chambertin Très Vieilles Vignes Les Evocelles 2016 is just another perfectly made manifestation of this adoration. A young and maybe still somewhat edgy wine, it has purest fruit and red morello cherries, so sexy and sensual I’m was totally knocked out, swayed by it. Sure, a bit tannic still, dry on the palate, but this is distilled energy in the glass. Miraculously, outside, in warm Dubai …

Si jeune mais si bon déjà. Les tannins sont présents mais le terroir de Charmes contribue à assouplir la structure typique je crois des vins du Domaine. C'est donc un Charmes de substance, concentré et complexe, de cerises avec des arômes floraux qui pointent. Une finale légèrement épicée, très longue. De la grande classe! Exceptionnel!

On a night of some truly magnificent wines. Served next to Haut Brion 2015. This too, to me, is hard to score. It is also not my preferred Burgundy style, but a well made and very good wine with a lot of stuffing to last many years.

There's some meaty reduction on the nose. The palate shows great purity of fruit. There's an engaging floral thread to the wine and it is chiseled with awesome minerality. So much potential here.
