Heard this is the kind of grape stands out in aroma, but only feel strong oak, some smell like canned tuna, light gold , medium to full body, bittness and viscosity, some depth with balance, long finish. Not my favour though.

Tatsing on February 12th all blind (SLC) : Honeysuckle and apricot on the nose, but not as overpowering as many new world Viogniers can be. Acid is also much higher than expected. On the palate Peach and more honeysuckle, also an oaky note that seems a bit unnatural.

Melon, green apple, dusty cocao, sea breeze. Very nice and unique.

The nose is imbued by flinty and honeyed aromas of limes, stonefruit, and honeysuckle, with whiffs of petrol and minerals. Crisp yet round, the crunchy palate displays a floral edge, good length, and picks up a peach pit note on the back end, gaining viscosity on the finish.

A very consistent wine over the years. Dry mineral and melon and mixed fruit with a decent amount of acid. Great value. Sell it for $30 and it will get higher ratings.

Ok enough summer quaffer. Almost thin bodied. Medium acidity, citrus notes and some waxiness. Hints of minerality. Short. Not very exciting. Wouldn`t call this a great value.

Some wines work for me even with the terrible ratings they might get. I usually rate Viognier much higher than most on this site and I especially like the Yalumba as an everyday white. Dry, fruity, spicy with some mineral and no apparent oak or alcohol. Not complex by any means but I just can't see how someone can give this wine a low rating.

Strong smell of fresh rubber, lacking in fruit and a bit too acidic. I would almost have mistaken it for a sauvignon blanc as it was very unlike other viogniers. Disappointing.

A bit sharp and acidic immediately on pouring but it settled as it opened and warmed in the glass. Citrus and some honey. 5h later (stored in the 'fridge but served well above 'fridge temperature) it had opened and softened substantially. The expected Riesling notes were emerging. An excellent partner to salmon with a mild chilli sauce. Perhaps just too young but a nice wine given time. No hurry.

Surprisingly old world (salty/mineral, ascetic), but a bit of a bland version of it. I love Yalumba for their Shirazes, but Riesling does not seem to be their thing. Still, it's a decent Riesling if you're out of options.

Tasted side-by-side with a Jim Barry Watervale Riesling (2014). The Yalumba wine was a deeper colour than expected (strangely deep for S. Australian Rieslng). It was riper and more approachable than the Watervale wine at first with lemon and toffee notes but without much of the expected Riesling character. It was really too commercial and not in the same class as the Jim Barry wine. Tasted at Grand Union Wine Society with Scott Edge of Negociants UK.

A hint of bret funk- no cork so it's not from the closure. I have enjoyed past bottles of this more.

Clear, pale lemon color. Clean, pronounced floral aroma. Dry, medium plus body. medium alcohol and acidity. COmplex flavors of Melon, Grass, blossom, ginger with a stony/minerally touch. Recommended.

Nice floral, apricot, honeyed nose when it warmed up (it was a bit flat straight from the 'fridge). Good apricot, peach and tropical fruit (inc. pineapple) on the palate. Quite soft without much overt acidity. Slightly oaky end palate. Actually better next day, again after it had warmed up a fair bit. Decent wine - not Condrieu but then it is a fraction of the price and is good value.

Well constructed, commercial riesling designed for early drinking. Lowish acid, but still enough to add some definition. Surprisingly advanced colour. Pretty kaffir lime leaves on the nose and a slight hint of melon and green apple on the palate. The finish has a lack of definition with a touch of honey. Slight residual sugar (1.3 g/l) This may well age (under stelvin) but I do not see this improving. Easy to drink now with good varietal character, if not the …

Bought to pour into my risotto, quite enjoyed a couple of glasses of this while cooking. Good value for $12. Decent varietal character, nose of apricots and peaches, and a smooth, creamy palate which achieves balance without being too extracted, oaky, viscous or alcoholic. I prefer this to the examples of The Virgilius I've tried.

Right out of the bottle, nose was a funky medicinal chlorine. 15 minutes, later some floral notes began to peek out. Palate is rich and with peach, apple and citrus flavors. Nice wine, but wish it had a bit more acidity.

Not "bad," but doesn't deliver on the name. All Sauvignon Blanc on the nose, Chardonnay and melon on the palate. None of the floral notes of a Viognier whatsoever.

Spring flowers, rose turns to sharp, distinct melon and apricot with an earth tone in the background. Medium plus, lower acidity. Nice wine for the price.

Citrus and mineral notes on the nose and on the palate. Overall quite bland and short compared to the previous vintage. Not any improvement after one night in the fridge. Mediocre riesling.
