Easy recognisable as Nebbiolo. Would’ve guessed it a bit older already. Quite approachable. Outstanding wine. No further notes.

Elegant styled Barolo, direct with strawberry, rose and anise the primary components. Full bodied and broad on the palate with excellent freshness and overall balance, gently extracted. Long finish with firm, ripe tannins. Not complex at this stage, though on point and crystalline in expression. Plenty of structure for further aging, remains quite fresh. Will target 5-10 years for next bottle.

Flavors of cassis, leather, cherry and clay . Ate w/ mushroom risotto one night and venison ragú the second night. Delicious compliment to both.

Third bottle of a 2015 Nebbiolo horizontal tasting. This confirms my love for Nebbiolo and Barolo specifically. Nicely balanced wine, decent body and acidity along with red fruit, cherry. Medium finish. This 2015 is a 50th anniversary bottling because Renato Ratti first vinified his Marcenasco 'Cru' as a single vineyard in 1965, pioneering this practice.

In a perfect drinking window with well integrated tannins, tertiary and primary flavors in combination. A bit dry in the mid palate

Classis neo-modern Barolo. Not overly dark and oaky (but in that direction), but on palate classic notes of tar, smoke, herbs. Bottle 11 of 12 drunk and have several lying other vintages. Unsurpassed quality price ratio.

Great fruit and acidity, well balanced, perhaps lacks a little depth I might expect at this price point. Still young.

Till en mixed grill av lokalt från Hassel och Kiruna tillsammans med smör och grillade grönsaker var detta en perfect match. Bra idag men dricker sista inom ett år.

Decanted a few hours in advance. Fairly deep ruby. Rich dark fruit, some green and vanillin on the nose. Solid feel, medium weight. Black cherry, excellent acidity, a tad of astringent wood at the end. Very good.

Very nice Barolo Marcenasco from Ratti, a very reliable producer indeed. Classical in style with elegant notes of roses, sweet cherries, red apples and tar. Great now, but with potential to evolve. 93+

Coravin. Dunkles Granatrot. Tolle Kirchenfenster.

👃 Ripe black currant, strawberry, rose-infused black tea, a hint of balsamic and some VA or ethyl acetate (similar to the pungent smell of fresh basil), which clears after a couple of minutes of aeration. 👅 Medium-bodied with lively acidity (m+), pleasant structure with firm tannins, dark chocolate on the palate and interestingly, a long finish of savory Serrano ham. 📝 Back in Stockholm after 3 weeks in Piemonte. With its 12 years under the belt I expected more tertiary …

Decanted for an hour then back in the bottle for another 6 hours of slow ox. Classic Barolo - dried rose petals, dried cherries, and herbs. “Lighter” in style for a Barolo, but of course the Nebbiolo power is still there. Really enjoyed this

This pours pale, light ruby in the glass with touches of orange toward the rim. The nose is of cherry, tar, perfume, bay leaf, dry dusty soil, forest floor, and candied cherry. The palate enters on the airy red fruit, with medium plus tannin and medium plus acid. The finish shows leather and tar, with lovely little floral accents. All in all this is offering up a tremendously enjoyable experience and a really nice early drinking window, remarkably wide open. …

Didn't take notes - but my note from 2/2022 looks about right "rose petals, sweet cherry, tart cherry, cedar and red licorice on nose. On palate, still fruit dominant (sweet/sour cherry and strawberry) with touch of savory undertones. Medium+body, high acidity, medium tannins and long finish." 93-94 range. Has improved a little so probably closer to 94 today.

Roses, anisees, ripe dark cherries and some wilted leaves. Really grippy tannins directly upon opening but the tannins mellows and the wine opens up great after 45 minutes in a decanter. Really nice compination of fruit and some development right now. Great wine!

Lovely mature barolo. Fairly light colour, browning on the rim. Classic mushroomy/tertiary flavours, but with enough remnants of fruit to keep it fresh. Decent acidity with a hint of tannin, particularly on the finish. I'd say no massive rush to drink up, but don't leave it too long.

Wonderful colors in the glass and some mature tones on the rim. Beautiful dark fruits, integrated and together on the nose. Floral, roses, medium bodied, long, very very well balanced and a wine that I think it drinking in the peak even if this can cellar for many many years to come. A really great wine that is a fantastic example of what you can get when cellaring for 10 years.

The first sip on pop 'n pour had a ton of sour, tart fruit so much as to be off-putting. But no matter, this is a wine that we all should know needs a decant. With time in the glass and/or decanter, this wine put on deeper, riper, fruit aromas and flavors. There is also black truffle on the nose and the finish has a great core of minerality. The wine is even better on day 2. This is surprisingly …

Butter-fried chanterelles on grilled Italian country bread, with buratta as a base. Renato Ratti's Marcenasco 2012 is in a wonderful phase right now, tannins and acidity in harmony, slightly darker fruit, like dark cherry, so clear tobacco and anistones. Had guessed 2015, 2016 considering tannins and acidity, will last many more years. Perfect match tonight. Drink or hold.

50th anniversary edition of the wine. Lovely aromas of cherry, raspberry, tar, and baking spices. Still a bit tight. Flavours on the palate follow the nose with a lot of structure to the wine. Tannins are noticeable but not obtrusive. Very good length and good amount of acid. Silky finish

This was my first experience with Ratti. Drank after leaving it open for three hours. This was a really sublime wine. Translucent brick red colour. Nose evoking dried flowers, leather, sigar box and so much more interlaced in a most harmonious way. On the palate it felt almost weightless and ethereal. Damn it was so good!

Tasted next to other Barolos, which were substantially younger. This one showed a surprisingly dark red color—aromas of cherry, tar, leather, herbs, and mushrooms. Medium+ body! Mellowed tannins at this age and ample acidity keep it fresh. I was surprised by how easy this was to drink.

Wow! Such a treat! Sour cherries, flower shop, spices, leather, dirt. High acid and tannins, but mouthwatering effects win and the bottle is gone way to quick. “Elegant, intense, well-made” Edit: stored last small glass infridhe overnight (in closed bottle, but no Argon or similar). That sample was maybe even better. Lots of years left in this 2012 barolo (- and with the nice quality “Diam 10” cork, I do not fear it will go bad soon.
