Purchased on closeout for $10. Sourced from a South facing terraced grand cru vineyard in the town of Stein. Last had this wine from the 2004 vintage. An elegant and floral wine. This had a creamy texture with notes of lemon curd, tea and grapefruit. Soft finish. 91 points.

First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield) : Served blind. Medium minus intensity aromas are savoury, meaty, a little bruised apple, lemon, slight oxidation, honey. Acidity is a bit soft, alcohol warmth, butter, honey, that alcohol intrudes on the finish. not quite right. Drinkable so not strictly flawed but...hmm. I guessed mid 90's Margaret River Chardonnay under cork

First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield) : Served blind. Slight oxidised notes - skin contact? A little bitter herbs, lemon and citrus peel and pith. Medium plus acidity, bitter, textured grip on the mid palate, a little bruised orchard fruit with time butter and alcohol warmth. I guessed Hunter Chardonnay from the 90's. I'm going to mark this one as FLAW based on what it actually was though.

{glass vinolok} Crystaline riesling; faint green apples, touch of lime, with a minerally note. Bone dry and crunchy texture. Cool mien. Light-bodied but fresh and alluring. Very drinkable. Not complex but quite satisfying.

Nice nose of lemon and mineral. The palate is dominated by minerality and acidity. The fruit is reticent, with lemon peel.

Rather disjointed on opening, which I attribute to the minor deacidification done this vintage. Improves significantly with air, resulting in good value for the $20 purchase price. Palate is slightly lemony with good purity and mineral notes. Very little color. The glass closure makes me wonder about aging potential; I guess I would say drink it in the near term but give it a couple of hours of air while still serving it at cellar temperature. Not as good as …

The unctuous wine sports a green-gold hue with medium legs. Notes of goosberry and lemon on the nose and guava/yellow lentil on the palate. Medium to full bodied with a lingering finish and satiny texture. Luscious... and charming complement to a biryani...oh blimey

Austria Uncorked Wine Tasting (Event One - Chicago) : Beautiful wine. Aromas of white peach. Full and structured with some good body and concentration.

Muted nose of honey, lemon and minerals with a hint of petrol coming through. Lacks intensity and focus. Perfectly drinkable but lacks real excitement. Short finish and slightly jarring disjointed acidity.

Grapefruit, lemon, and lime candy on the nose. Lovely, deep finish. More weight that I expected.

Fine Wines of Austria; 5/6/2010-5/7/2010 : Simple orange flavoured ice cream soda. Dry but sweet still with some orange pith. Simple and enjoyable now.

Quite floral with an almost Viognier-like nose of rose petal and potpurri, this is dry with a round, balanced mouthfeel and flavors of stonefruit and minerals.

Picked up for 17 Euros while connecting through the Vienna airport, this was killer QPR. Everything I love about Austrian riesling: full, resiny texture that produces a long finish; the purity of alpine spring water; smells and flavors of white flowers, peaches, and minerals. Enjoyed during a vacation in Tuscany, where it matched beautifully with hard cheeses.

ProWein 2008, Day 1 (Duesseldorf, Germany) : (I believe this was the Reserve bottling.) Closed down at the moment, but this feels heavy just in the glass. Strange. Less of this wine was poured to me than any of the other wines. The wine exhibited long, slow legs. The palate at this stage showed primarily apple notes. After munching on a few of the pumpkin seeds at the stand, I noticed in these wines a distinct pumpkin seed vein through …
