Baby Barolo. 2017 feels like it’s 20 years old. High acidity, high tannins, completely tertiary. At the end of the drinking window.

Solid Barolo-esque wine. Nose is pale garnet with a hint of rims browning out. Nose is powerful. Big cherry and cranberry, as well as some ash, wet stone and tobacco. Taste is rich and deep. Full bodied. A lot of cherry and pepper. Tannic aftertaste. Flash of acidity on the back end. Very good balance and structure.

Ovanligt mörk och tät. God smak men kanske lite för snälla tanniner och inte riktigt stiltypisk.

Perhaps vintage or the bottle - had elements of being much older, ultimately settling down a bit with food. Not as fresh as others I’ve had

Wonderful wine, rich, complex, very enjoyable Italian Nebbiolo wine. Not sure regarding VFM though, given the ver high price 🍷 Medium intensity mostly clear bright ruby red color, lovely👏 Medium body, high minus acidity, well felt tanines, not very smooth but with a great structure👏 Lovely aromatic, red fruits, barrels, spices, ageing, terroir👏 Complex, rich, full on the palate: strawberries, raspberries, pomegranate, oak, vanilla, ginger, pepper, anise, stone, leather, mushrooms, cheese, hazelnut👏🍷👏🍷

Grazie, Cantina Giacomo Borgogno & Figli! Fresh and fruity wine, I absolutely like this style! Very easily approachable nebbiolo, typical bright cherry, floral elements and little bit of smoke but not tight nor oaky at all! Buy a case of this, I know I will!

Persistente. Ottimo.

Lighter read with a hint of brown in color. Nose of cherries and oak with a hint of alcohol. First tastes are of black cherries and a cellar floor. Not a lot of complexity or depth. Mild tannins and noticeable alcohol on finish.

The nose is fresh and forward with tones of sour red cherries, menthol notes, raspberries, licorice, tar, liqueur tones, roses, and roasted herbs. This is balanced and has good depth with an open-knit style. The Full bodied feel shows off the balance of the nose with crisp, high acidity and silky, high tannins. This has a friendly take with some lovely, sour red fruits as the base. This could use a few years to fully come together, it doesn't feel …

Pale garnet colour. Medium and developing nose with strawberry, black pepper, wet leaves, forest floor, tar and rose petal. Medium taste of strawberry, licorice, wet leaves, forest floor and tar. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Full tannins. Full body. A very good declassified Barolo. Drink now or over the next five years. Goes well with beef or lamb.

Translucent red with amber tones in the glass. Ripe cherry nose with subtle oregano herbaceous notes. As it evolved in the glass a warm balanced medium bodied wine emerges. Lengthy finish completes the experience.

Decanted 2 hours before starting to drink. May not have needed the full 2 hours and starts to get bitter after 5. The color is a deep garnet. Full bodied, smooth tannins, good acid, but still quite young (as evidenced by its fruit-forward flavors). Tastes similar to Borgogno's full Barolo products. According to the Borgogno website, this wine is 100% Nebbiolo with a manual harvest. The grapes are destemmed and pressed. Spontaneous fermentation occurs in large concrete tanks for about …

Young Nebbiolo color: ruby with the tinge of orange. Aromatic nose of red fruit/cherries, a pinch of spices/nutmeg, touch of earth/leather/creosote, and a light menthol flourish at the end. Taste matches the nose, satin texture, dense flavor but lifted with the aromatics and acid. Worked really well with the braised short rib papardelle tonight. Very easy to drink, and a wine that engages with both the nose and the tongue. It earned the uncommon second puncture from the Coravin tonight …

Have enjoyed Borgogno's stuff here and there, but it's been quite a while. Always happy to see a wine made by this producer. Thank you Shay! The thing that made this wine so intriguing is that it is not a light nebbiolo. I was getting the rose petal nose, sweeter, lighter red fruit start to this wine in a more Barbaresco type of style, but the middle and finish had more tar, licorice, soil reminiscent of a Serralunga Barolo. This …

This family is one of Italy’s most storied (their wines were served at the unification of Italy). The winemaker was told because his style was different, though it followed all the rules, they wouldn’t approve one of his barrels to be classified as Barolo. In protest, the winemaker kept his style and gave the wine a name of “No Name”...this is a Barolo wine in everything but the name. Tar, Rose petals, lots of muddled cherry and blackberry, vanilla pipe …

Diploma Unit 3 Post-Exam Party (Central Kitchen, SF) : Pale ruby color, with a garnet rim. Clean, pronounced intensity nose with red fruit (ripe cherry, dried cherry), floral notes (dried roses, fresh roses, potpourri), signs of development (bruised apples/acetaldehyde, savory leather, tobacco), and a perfumed note (possible stylistic ethyl acetate). There's also earth (dried leaves, dusty earth). On the palate, dry, medium bodied, with high alcohol (feels 14.5% - actually 15%), high acid, and high tannins (chewy and grippy). The …
